Annoying me today is the fact that someone might nab the flat that I really REALLY want.
See, there's this flat that I really really love and I even though I haven't even seen it properly yet, I want already it as it's absolutely gorgeous going on the pictures (the estate agent put a picture of every room on which was handy). It also has a little garden, it's cheap and it's very central; which means it's perfect - but there's one other person having a look at it at 2pm today and I don't want them to nab it as my appointment is at 5:30... I think I'd actually cry if they took it.
So hopefully they'll either cancel, go away and have a think or just say no.

Fingers, toes and other pieces of anatomy crossed please people!!

I will. I had a similar situation once with a cottage I rented - I only saw it from the outside and phoned the landlord immediately, I didn't need to see inside. Anyway, I drove 200 miles to pick up the keys that afternoon in case someone else got it first. It is the only place I have ever lived that I actually loved.

All the best rusty.

Thanks Yuds, do you still live there now? The cottage sounded lovely.

See, I tried that. I said to the guy that I'm interested in the flat and that I want it right now, I even said that I have the holding fee right now and more if you want it (I'm desparate) but he said that that isn't allowed. Bastard.

Just so you know what I'm going through:

Just look at it! *sighs*

I don't live there, it was tiny and once we had two growing kids, it was just too small......I would love to get my hands on it again though.

Your flat looks great, College Road too, very central! Good luck.

Looks really nice Rusty. Mrs Zoot and I live in a converted barn, and the moment we saw that we wanted it, before we even had a look inside.

Update: it's been an hour and a half since the other people looked round the flat. Now surely if they were interested the estate agents would have notified me by now not to come tonight? I hope I'm right...

Cheers.
Converted barn? Cool!! Is it next door to another house/farm or is it literally in the middle of no where?

I love that feeling you get when you just know something is right...

Scottish Gas yet again trying to claim they supply the gas to my house. I changed it to Scottish Power when I moved in last year, and while that took a couple of weeks to change over after I moved in, it was less than a month. Still, Scottish Gas tried to continue to bill me for it for months afterwards. Turned out they had made a mess of the changeover and they were off to recalculate what I owed them for those few weeks at the beginning.

That was the last I heard until today when they have once again decided that they have been supplying me all this time. So I now have virtually a year's worth of gas to pay them. Aye, that'll be right... back on the phone for me again tomorrow.

I've just seen two good friends who have been made redundant and are clearing out their stuff. It's quite upsetting.

It isn't nice, I for one would be screwed pretty quickly in their position. Would need to find a new job very quickly indeed.

Ah that sucks. They get a decent package?

I remember a mass culling that took place at my last job, everything was ticking along normally when all of a sudden, three directors turned up and announced "the next hour won't be pleasant but we'll try to get it over with" and started whisking various individuals off to meeting rooms telling them they were being booted out on their ears. Everyone was trying to look busy and you could see people cringing when one of the directors walked in their direction and then our entire team got called into a meeting room only to be told we WEREN'T being made redundant - the bastards were getting some sick thrill out of it, I'm sure.

When I worked at BT and they decided to outsource to India, the site director turned up with 4 bodyguards so we knew something strange was happening.

They took us in groups of 5 to say we where being made redunadant. Nicely timed that we all lost our jobs at Christmas!

Not bad, particularly the one who has been here well over 10 years.

That is crap.. I've been made redundant once (after three weeks of working there.. bad planning doesn't even begin to describe it) and the whole company was called into the lunch area where the MD said that the last few weeks have been very hard, etc (it was true.. I'd barely had to do anything since I started there) and inevitably there would need to be cost cutting measures, which meant redundancies. He then went on to say 'would the following people please stay behind after this meeting; the rest can go back out' - and of course, I was in the list of names. They were very apologetic and I got a month's wages as a redundancy package (which I thought wasn't bad, considering I was 18 and due to the length of time I'd been there, they didn't have to pay me anything except the time I'd been there for.)

An explosion going off underneath Edgware road where I work. It lifted manhole covers 40ft in the air and slammed them down onto shops. No-one's hurt. Think it's just a gas explosion but for a few minutes I was worried there!

I left my gas stuff at home, so I'm going to have to wait til I get home tonight to phone them. Since I'm playing tennis tonight, that'll be about half 7. And they shut at 8. Grrr... I know this one is my stupidity, but I wouldn't have to do anything if Scottish Gas didn't suck royally.

I've just learned that one of our sales reps had second row tickets to the Men's final at Wimbledon on Sunday. That is more than a little annoying.

I'm going to apply for next year. I probably won't get men's final tickets, but just tickets for a particular day would be nice.
