Would it not make more sense to ascend Mount Everest once and then descend again? I think going up ME twice is enough

Lets not get too excited about going up, altho its better than being relegated, cant wait for the new season, by Kendra's reckoning the Championship is the place.... up in the sky, and where all the action is at, hooray for the mighty Blackpool.

foot-loose wrote:What is this Pride thing all about anyway? What's the point of it?

The Pride celebrations are to celebrate who you are; because 20-30 years ago, being gay would have equalled you being shot basically; so the reason behind Pride is to be proud of who you are and celebrate that on one day as well as to also remember those who fought for who they were.

A snippet from Wiki wrote: LGBT pride or gay pride refers to a world wide movement and philosophy asserting that LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) individuals should be proud of their sexual orientation and gender identity. The word pride is in this case an antonym for shame, which has been used to control and oppress LGBT persons throughout history.

LGBT pride advocates work for equal "rights and benefits" for LGBT people. The movement of Pride has three main premises: that people should be proud of their sexual orientation and gender identity, that diversity is a gift, and that sexual orientation and gender identity are inherent and cannot be intentionally altered

As much as it is fun, it does sometimes annoy me because at the end of the day, if some gay people want to be accepted by others why the hell do they prance around half naked screaming and shouting and basically being a twat - that's only going to make you look completely different to others - but that's just me. I'm not saying don't have fun, but there are some people that really do over do it.

S4B wrote:Yep. It s pretty though. I didn't say I was buying one, I said they were the best of what is around.

foot-loose wrote:So Waterstones are the only ones selling a product that you don't like?

S4B wrote:I didn't say I didn't like it! I said I wouldn't be buying one and I prefer books made of paper!

S4B, you are master of the u-turn.

Where have I u-turned Topher? I stand by the fact that 99.9% of people (like me) will prefer a "proper" book. However, of the variants of this product that are around, the Sony Reader has been declared the best and I will sell it to anyone who wants one. I also think it is quite pretty!

You agreed with foot-loose that you said it's 'guff'. Where I come from, that is basically saying that you don't like it. You then disagreed with foot-loose's statement that you don't like it.

What would 'it is guff' mean where you come from then?

I don't actually remember using those words! I think I said it was not my cup of tea and I wouldn't be getting one. You know Foot-Loose he does like to change things.

...and you said:

  1. I wasn't aware that 'turning the page' was an art. Last time I checked, an 'art' was a skill and most five year olds with normal motor skills can do that.
  2. The fact that you believe turning the page is an 'art' and these devices do away with that 'art', surely that means you don't like them.
  3. I would stake my savings on the fact you would not be having this argument if Waterstone's weren't selling them... you would be agreeing with us.
  4. I rest my case your honour.

If we weren't selling them though they would have to be crap as you would expect a bookshop to be selling them!

Making me smile, me and a few mates are going to Cornwall for a few days at the end of next week. My friend has a house in a relatively quiet area with a nice beach nearby.

Hah.

The book spat is amusing me...

S4B wrote:I stand by the fact that 99.9% of people (like me) will prefer a "proper" book.

So Waterstones are selling a product 0.1% of people will prefer?
