Yes. I saw Live at the Apollo the other day when he was doing stand up as Keith Barratt - brilliant.

This is what drew my attention to him. I had bought tickets for him at the Edinburgh Playhouse in a few of weeks, then saw that Ticketmaster were selling tickets closer the front for the same price so I've bought them as well with the intention of selling the other ones on eBay but the gig hasn't sold out yet so was just wondering what the mass publics opinion of him was.

If anyone wants them on here then it's on the 6th December, tickets are in the stalls.

We watched 'Keith Barratt live on stage' (Rob Brydon) on DVD last night cause it was cheap on itunes.
Absolutely brilliant, very very funny.

OK so I know it's been a while but.................

I've lost 3 stone!!! Now down to 12st 6!

Still losing with another 2 stone to go. Question now is what to do with all the excess skin I seem to have accumulated. Wake up every morning hoping it'll have disappeared over night but no, still there.

Ideas on a postcard please. :)

S4B wrote:Ok guys I need your help and support. I decided to weigh my self today for the first time in 2 years. (I'm not sure my scales are working properly as they weighed me at 4 different weights but I have taken the weight they weighed me at twice - which was not the lowest weight)

So........

*Deep breath*

I am currently 14 stone. I would like to get down to 10 stone by Christmas (hell I'd like to get down to 8 stone but I'm being realistic)

I know I can start exercising more - in fact I started yesterday - but it has to be done in the privacy of my own home to start off with cos I daren't go out running etc until I have lost at least some off my chest and stomach.

I know if I cut out the booze I will lose more weight - although contrary to popular belief I don't drink that often.

My main problem is that I lose the impetus and get lazy/stop caring after a little while so I thought if you lot could help by encouraging/bullying/reminding me a bit on a daily/weekly basis I might actually stick at it.

I'll try not to turn it into a blog I promise and if it annoys too many people then I'll stop posting in it, I just need some help.

So I guess my question is - will you help/bully/encourage me?

(I am aware that I will get abuse from many people for this thread by the way but I'll take it)

Woo - well done missus. You gained points for that post (which is good cos you have a lot of making up to do ;)).

I too am on the "get the * fat off" idea. I'm going for a run / brisk walk the now. Let us know how you are getting on m'dear.

Since I wrote that in April, I have lost 4 and a half stone. I'm * awesome. Image

Wow, that's good work everyone. I've lost just over a stone since the beginning of Sep, and still going, but Christmas is a really challenging time to watch your weight!

There's no point at Christmas. You have to make a decision to not care - but only for a predetermined period of time. For me, Christmas starts today (yay!) and ends after Jan 2nd. In between those days, I am allowed to eat as much as I want of whatever I want. I wonder how much of the 4 stone I've lost this year (if I'd realised how much I gained in the last two years I'd have been so disgusted with myself....it just crept up on me!) I'll put back on?

Woo-hoo!! Well done all of you.
Foots I can't believe you've beaten me!! Mind you maybe not being a sofa now helps?
Nic you are gorgeous don't lose anymore!
Yuds you are amazing!! Well done on beating me and I bet you don't put much back on.

I'm gonna continue to be good over Christmas, my appetite has diminished sooo much that I don't think I'll do too badly. Mind you, went to the doc today and apparently a combination of stress, exhaustion and not taking my meds properly has pushed my thyroid off the scale (in the bad direction - not sure how that works, should be 4 and is currently 100+ :s) So maybe time off and taking my thyroxine properly will actually help me lose weight over Christmas rather than put it on!

Good luck everyone xxxx

New year, and with it January and all the dieting/detoxing it tends to bring? Anyone got any plans?

I'm starting today, half a pound short of 14 stone, aiming to get back down to 12 and a half. I've been putting it off for a while, so now is as good a time as any now that Christmas and New Year dinners are out of the way!

I've had a Wii for ages, including Wii Fit. It's been gathering dust for much of that time. They're nothing more than a machine for parties, and no one comes to my house to visit.

Was it a substantial amount of your 4 stone?

Probably not, but its shocking how quickly it comes back when I let my guard down! I wasn 't eating what I would call normally over the break though, I have been aware that it was a short gorging window and took best advantage of it. Its not like I came off a diet and started eating normally and put weight on, that's really depressing.

I know what you mean. I've a nasty habit of stuffing myself. Normally I only eat two meals a day - lunch and dinner - but when I do it's probably in quantities that are too much. Usually if I'm doing my normal exercise - which amounts to a bit of walking and a game of five-a-side football once a week - it balances out and my weight stays fairly stable. But since the end of August I haven't been playing as I've had something of an annoying knee injury. Took me long enough to get to a physio with it, and even when I did I cut short my knee exercises and ended up undoing all the repair work I'd done to my knee.

So hopefully, now that my knee is on the mend again, if I up my exercise a bit and keep to a sensible diet for a bit the weight will come back off over the next couple of months.

At least until my next injury. I used to joke I was the Phil O'Donnell of my football team the amount of time I spent out injured. That stopped being funny after his untimely death a couple of years ago.

Apparently my ideal weight is 11 stone and I'm around 13 and a half. This is the first time I have ever known either of these pieces of information, I might try and do something about it.

Who says your "ideal weight" is that though? You can take twenty men all the same height and make them all the same weight - some will be just right, others will be too heavy and others will be too thin. I had a right go at a doctor a few months ago who looked at Mr Yudster, measured his height, and said he should be twelve and a half stone. The absolute lightest he should ever be, given his build and body type, is 15 stone, and to be honest he's pretty bloody fabulous at 16 stone. Its just such a stupid, arbitrary and pointless thing to base anything on. I've seen pictures of you Topher, you're skinny. Maybe you could be fitter, who knows, but you aren't overweight.

Not quite sure I agree with that, I use mine all the time, though to be fair I am more in a lot of the games target age range.

The Wii Fit says that and Cat says I've put weight on.. I'm not skinny, I'm just not fat. We have new scales now that tell you your BMI, body fat, body water and everything, I'll make a note of it all and let you know.

I am still just over a stone above my 'ideal weight' according to the charts, which I am hoping to lose in the next few months. We got a Wii Fit a couple years ago and I haven't used it in aaages - the novelty wore off really quickly for me. I much prefer to actually get out there running, altho I haven't been able to do that for a while either cos of my stupid back.

I've been playing squash and racketball. If I play Miss Yudster, its ok, a nice runaround. If I play Mr Yudster, its a major encounter of the severest cardio-vascular kind........

I haven't weighed myself in a while but I'd estimate I could do with losing a stone and a half, partly thanks to Christmas, and also due to the gym having been closed for refurbishment over December (bad timing). It's just reopened but I tend to stay away until after the less driven of the New Year Resolutioners drop off, which is usually within 3 weeks. Then I'll try to get back to my old routine of 3 hourly sessions per week, and as soon as all my Christmas chocolate is eaten up I'll sort out my diet back to the way it was the last time I was losing/keeping off weight. I've noticed the routines that worked when I was 24 are already having less affect now (nearly 27) though, so I may need to step up a level.

One of my own resolutions is to buy at least 2 albums per month (one new; one classic) so that should help with my gym motivation. I like brisk walks too.

Week 1 - lost 4.5lbs. Week 2 - lost 3lbs. After just two weeks I'm back to being non-BMI fat, I'm a third of the way to my goal, and I haven't even started the exercise yet.

People * hate me.
