Anyway making me smile today is the fact that so far 36 of my new Italian Quails have hatched out from the eggs in my incubator, which is over 50% of the eggs already, and some are still twitching which is by far and away the best success I have had with my incubator to date (3 out of 36)

I am really pleased as I hate failing with things and feel vindicated that I can do it now !

Oh wow boboff... that's really cool and extremely random. I'm intrigued. What ever made you want to do that then?

Yes, ignoring Viv's illiterate jibe, it is a bit random. The reason is very boring though, I searched for eggs to incubate in e-bay, and the closest person happened to be selling these type. I was pleased as he said they are very easy to incubate and they start laying very quickly. They are very, very cute though!

Seconded with bells on! Get your camera out Boboff!

Me too. I don't think I've ever seen a quail.

We used to have two quails in my dad's aviary. I don't remember what the female was called, but I named the male and I remember my parents finding it very funny that (without knowing what I was doing), I decided to call him Dan.

I can understand you needing the incubator to start off the quail, if you don't already have any, but before you were hatching chickens in there - I don't understand why you don't just let the hens get on with doing it themselves? I would have thought the success rate would be higher.....?

Is it normal for women to get that excited about this, or is it just a Vivism?

We've a canyon 2 blocks away that borders this quiet residential street and when you're driving by you can see them rambling along. I spotted an adult the other day (because of her head plume) and when I asked my son if he'd seen her, he said no. So we parked and when he leaned out to try to take a photo, her and the military precise line behind her of 10 or 12 chicks went scurrying in every direction under the shrubs. It was brilliantly chaotic and very, very cute.

A generally positive outcome. I didn't mumble or stutter really, but I now need a shower to wash all the sweat off me.

Such a coward.

Topher! You can't leave it like that - tell us what happened! I know I didn't comment, but I'm just like you; I can never pluck the courage up as I always assume the worst so I could hardly comment; although with your predicament I did feel that I just wanted to give you a big hug and ruffle your hair.

Well, we are probably going for a drink next week. This is good.

Now I need to learn how to small talk.

Yay!!! You'll be fine honey. You already had an evening out with her didn't you so you can build on what you learnt about her there! Mind you DO NOT bore her with ping pong stories, or mention your ex, or pick her up on bad grammar!
