No. I gained a lot of weight in a short time 15 years ago when my first husband died and lost that. Then during my illness last year and the year before i had to stop my regular exercise, and gained some back. Its gone now though because I am back to my normal routine.

I had a de-motivating Easter with far too much chocolate involved. I need to get my head back on right and sort this out!

I had no chocolate for Easter :) Feeling very smug right now as I thought the trousers I had bought last September wouldn't fit me any more but they are loose! Yay me. C'mon Yuds, challenge you ;)

I'm in no shape for challenges - but I need to drop a stone before the end of June. Wish me luck!

I forgot about this thread. I got down to 12st 10lbs before I got bored and decided there was no point continuing if I was going to New York. I was only 3lbs short my goal anyway.

Of course, I never went to New York.

I've a new goal though - there's a half marathon in Glasgow in September. I've signed up for it so we'll see how that works out for me!

I'm around 40-45kg, what's that in stone?

You should be able to find a converter on google.

Also, didn't you say you were 14 years old? Unless you're significantly overweight for your age, you really shouldn't be concerning yourself with your weight - not while you still have growing to do.

I finally seem to have managed a couple of days of eating properly (ie no sweets, cake, chocolate, sugar, whatever) and spent an hour this afternoon being absolutely run ragged on the squash court. That definitely doubled my heart rate for at least half an hour straight, so that should have been aerobic enough! have to say though, I've never worked so hard for three measley points in my LIFE! Played really well though, so I don't mind - the sweat is the goal!

Newsbeat, you don't have to worry about your weight. You sound on the thin side to me, but you're very young so thats probably preferable. You've got a lot of growing to do over the next few years, just try to make sure you get some exercise (you don't have to play a sport, just don't sit on your bum at the computer all the time) and be aware what you are eating. Everyone knows what is and isn't good for them, just apply that knowledge and don't have the bad stuff EVERY day (doesn't mean you can't have it at all though). But make sure you eat enough - if your are underfuelled during this time of your life when you're growing a lot, you could affect your physical development permanently.

OK, thanks for that, was worrying a bit, as I thought 45kg, just sounds like a lot. This has put my worries at rest. I'm OK now

Jeez mate, me n foot loose have both got a 45kg penis (each, not shared) so I wouldn't worry too mush....

But as The oricle (Yuds) says, just try to avoid pies/burgers daily and delay your stress till the mid 20's arrive. Its after that it all goes downhill fast. Litterally!

I should go buy a new cardigan in his honour. He really is quite the sharp dresser. Puts me to shame.

More on topic: I have more pudge than I'd like right now because I took two weeks off of football for a groin injury. My first game back Monday night was rough. Maybe I'll go for a bike ride later.

I'm pretty happy with myself just now as I've lost half a stone over the past few weeks, and even with a brief chocolate interlude at Easter.

I was finding it much harder than before (it's certainly become harder since reaching my mid-twenties) initially, but I've since realised that the easiest way to do it was to increase the number of meals and decrease the amounts of food in each. I'm also getting as much exercise as I can, but it's no longer just the gym. If I replace the gym with a good bout of housework or a day with lots of walking, the effect is the same.

On days when I do go to the gym or am planning on doing something after work that involves a lot of exercise, my new eating plan consists of: Breakfast as normal; Low calorie snack at noon; Low calorie soup (nothing on the side) for lunch; Cold pasta meal at 4pm (so I'm getting some carbs in 2 hours before the exercise); healthy meal after the exercise; snack later in the evening if necessary. This plan gives me the right amount of calories but also keeps me from ever getting too hungry (even after the gym) so I'm not tempted to ever eat too much.

I also no longer eat dessert after any meal and instead eat those desserts as snacks, in other words at a time of the day when I actually need it, rather than simply using it as a top-up after a meal.

It's incredible the difference these little changes have made, so far at least. I went to a ball the other night and realised at the last moment that the red dress I'd been planing to wear (which had been my 'fat' dress, but I adored it) was too big, and I had to wear something from my old wardrobe. :)
