Nicola_Red wrote:That woman's voice (Diane Morgan, aka Philomena Cunk) grates on me so badly. Her accent probably isn't massively different from mine, which is somewhat alarming. Maybe it's the tone of her voice as much as her accent, I dunno. Either way, I find her almost impossible to watch without just getting irritated.

I looked both of their characters up to see who they were. Philomena, I was surprised to see that she was the woman who was doing sketches with Joe Wilkinson on Live At The Electric. Not only did her hair color change but the style so much I didn't recognize her at all as Philomena. I much prefer Barry as a character than her.

Speaking of Brian Cox I found a YouTube clip online where Jon Culshaw is impersonating Brian Cox during the Stargazing Live show. Brian Cox walks into camera view and starts talking with the other Brian.

Didn't Russell Brands Mum, Jo, used to be like an Olympic Swimmer?

Danny DeVito used to be a hairdresser before his stand up career.

Eddie Murphy, Stand up or Actor?

Any Beavis and Butthead fans here? Just wondered if anyone had seen it and thought it was good, I was thinking of buying the first series but from the trailers I didn't think it looked that good. Is it worth it? Cheers.

Are they remaking it then? Or do you mean the original ones?
I used to love them 20 odd years ago, but I'm not sure if they would weather that well for today.

They were of their time. I still think they are very funny but check out some of their clips on YouTube or something just to make sure you don't waste your money. Given that they were mainly links in a music clip show, though with some very funny commentary over them, they might not lend themselves to getting a whole series at once.

Two words used to spring into my head and stay there whenever Beavis and Butthead were mentioned - Dirty (in the sense of being unwashed) and Nasty (in the sense of having implied underlying psychopathy traits). But those are probably the things that people liked about them. I didn't.

Meh, B&BH used to amuse my mentally challenged friend back in the early 90's, but if you can count to 20 without taking your socks off, you'll find it has limited appeal.

Watched the most recent episode of The Following last night. I have to say, it really pissed me off. Towards the end, there's a really intense series of events going on and then they do something which was just really cheap and easy and lazy. I'm thinking of giving up on it if that's what we're going to keep getting for the rest of the series.

I've been watching a few clips from Beavis and Butthead and so far I think it's quite funny, nothing I'd actually buy on DVD though.

I like Beavis and Butthead...used to stay up late to watch them when I was a kid and was 1 of the six people that saw the film at the cinema in my home town

I loved them, but I agree they're very of their time. I think they had a particular appeal to those of us who were part of that heavy metal subculture in the early 90s.

Totally agree, I think my enjoyment of Beavis and Butthead has a high level of nostalgia attached to it

Being Human sadly coming to an end last week but it deserves a mention for the headline in the newspaper shown last night :

Image

"IS HEALTH AND SAFETY TURNING BRITAIN’S FARMERS GAY?" it asks, not unreasonably.

I managed to enjoy Beavis and Butthead once, many many moons ago. I think the fact I was in an elevated state of mind helped. It's not been anything special since.

I'm hoping BBC America picks up this final series of Being Human. There's been no word about that as of yet even though they've shown all the previous ones.

Overrated. Do yourself a favour and buy the Breaking Bad box set.

Not remotely interested in Breaking Bad. I'm sure its very well done, but the plot doesn't interest me.

Thanks for the Dexter rating, noted.
