No it means there are a significant number of people who have only one leg, or none, for whatever reason. That makes the average number of legs per person less than 2 - unless there are loads of people who have 3 or 4 to balance it out. The average number of legs per person is probably something like 1.9999999 or whatever, but it'll be less than 2

Console wrote:It's a math thing. The most common number of legs a human on this planet has is two, but there are some with legs missing (either through some sort of amputation, or a birth defect), so when you add up all the legs, and divide by the number of people, you get a number less than two (something like 1.999...). There are of course a few people that have to be difficult and have more than two legs to try and balance it out, but their numbers aren't significant enough to overcome the number of people with less than two legs.

Ahh fair enough. I dont tend to think of people to the nearest decimal place...

All things written in a forum are proved correct if you finish your post with the word "fact" in capital letters.

No, it was actually a reference to Mars, the Roman God of War. The name Wednesday is derived from a Latin phrase meaning Mercury day (Mercury being the Roman God of Business (I think)) and so 'jokingly' I chose a different God, one that starts with the same letter and is also a name of a planet.

A another useless bit of trivia, I've just checked Wikipedia and Marsday is actually what Tuesday is derived from (I thought Thursday was derived from it, but I checked and it obviously wasn't), so I now vote we change Wednesday to Xenaday.

I never liked that joke, no real mathematician would split up a squared number into its component parts, and then split them up even further by putting the derivative of 'R' in the middle of them; it's just silly. Also, why were they doing a derivative of 'R' when using 'X' is the convention in most cases; the only time you'd reasonably use 'R' is if you were creating circles, but then you wouldn't really care about the gradient of it (and I'm not entirely sure it can be derived anyway). Besides, for the derivate to be R^2 DR, the formula of the graph would have to be Y = (R^3 / 3) + c (they possibly state this in the show, I can't remember), which is obviously a curve and not a circle.

Water is not blue it's to do with sunlight absorbtion that makes it appear blue.

However here's a true colour fact!

In the 18th century all carrots were either purple or white. Dutch farmers decided to cultivate orange crops as it's their national colour
