liverpool have money, they are a big enough club to turn over quite a lot of it. they wasted how much on a player they never heardly used in robbie keane, not that i think keane is a bad player i like him. but i'm not quite sure who actually bought him in after it all, benitez or parry. maybe loan out some or sell the weaker players for extra cash. liverpool have 3 world class players to build around, carragher, gerrard & torres.
riise came in for a lot of stick from some liverpool fans after last year against chelsea, not everyone i know but some of the things i read on 606 at the time were stupid. makes me laugh how they must of been jumping for joy at his free kick against united in 2001, or his goal in the semi final of the fa cup against chelsea. yes it was a bad mistake with the own goal but as i said, the reason he was playing that bad towards the end is because for some reason rafa started playing aurelio over him. i recall riise playing at the start of his last season and there was nothing different to the usual solid performance, after he got dropped he probably thought he was unwanted and lost confidence.
i never got the gareth barry saga over last summer either. liverpool already have two great holding midfeilders in alonso and mascherano, alonso nearly went to make the funds for barry. but this season alonso has been playing some of the best football he's played in a while, it comes down to personal choice i guess but i think alonso is a better player for liverpool. why spend money in a position that dosen't really need to be strengthened?
i would love to see liverpool get the title, and if they don't get it this year i hope soon. rafa has bought them a long way since he got there, he's done very well. but i still think there are one or two things that need to be ironed out before they can look at doing what united did last season for example.
