My mum climbed a lamp post to see them once.. we were in Marylebone getting off the bus and there was a lot of commotion and crowds over the road, so she climbed up to see what the fuss was about and was disappointed to realise it was New Kids on the Block.

The first incarnation was brilliant... the second was not as good, but still reasonable.

Its the only thing I have ever liked Vic Reeves in, and that is pretty marginal.

By 'incarnation' do you mean the original 5 series? If so, I agree. The special last year was fun but not a patch on the old stuff.
I'm still hoping for a whole new series though.

Yeah, the original line-up of Mark Lamarr - pre Will Self and Johnny Vegas.

Yeah Mark Lamarr was brilliant on it. He knew exactly what was expected of him and played up to it.
I loved Johnny Vegas but Will Self is a bit of a tit.

As an aside - isn;t Johnny Vegsas looking well these days? I'm assuming he's of the drink. He was incedibly unfunny and almost embarrassing to watch when he was pissed all the time, but now he's just surreally hilarious. And he looks twenty years younger.

I thought he played the tragic drunk very well and was great at completely breaking down on stage. It's definitely an 'act' though and I'm not sure if he was even that pissed when he performed.
I remember finding his Comedy Awards bit really funny at the time.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3yTHjQRrVs

Tastes differ though.

It wasn't an act, not all the time anyway - he nearly drank himself to death at one point. I think he very nearly was the tragic drunk.

Just watched The Wrath of Khan on Sky Screen 2. It was the Director's Cut. It's almost as old as I am, but it's still a brilliant movie and probably the only Star Trek movie you could sit a non-trekkie down to watch and they'd enjoy it too.

I'm not a fan of the movies but even I like that one.

Not if they subscribe to the deontological school of philosophy it isn't what with it's utilitarian claptrap being spouted all the way through....

I'm not a deontologist either mind you, I'm more of a humanist/existentialist so I'm not bothered either way.

Ach, they'd just be happy with the next movie which sorta redresses that balance.

Besides, I always preferred "there are always possibilities" to "the needs of the many" as far as quotes from the movie go.

I meant meaningful, philosophical quotes. The one you're referring to I find myself quoting a lot more than I used to thanks to one person on here!
