Actually, I was surprised it was recent enough to have been invented by someone who has only just died. However, I still love a doner kebab so you are wrong on two counts, however, I will just say that he was obviously a great achiever before he died, so at least we all gained. Well, the meat eaters amongst us.

Also, you have shortened your username in your signature.... don't succumb to them!

Are we going to start arguing about your * up palate again?

Everyone elses taste in food > Tophers

Ages are relative, it depends what you're talking about; 60 certainly isn't old when you're talking about age of death. It may have been in times gone by, but these days people are regularly living to at least 10 or 20 years past that.

The M&L ref made me chuckle but nevertheless...I know he isn't well known to younger people now but he has a big following, played our biggest theatre regularly and always sold it out. He had a really long career and dabbled in all different styles; he was signed to the same label as Portishead at one time and took some influences from them, when I saw him live he played 'Glory Box'. He also lost his leg after an infection in 2003 but continued to tour. I actually started listening to his stuff thru my ex's dad, and I'm glad I did.

40 8O That's no age is it, bloody hell.

2009 really hasn't been a good year so far has it, so many famous people dying and yet we've still got one day of January left.

I wasn't even aware she was ill. Came as a shock to me. Makes me wanna go watch a load of Are You Being Served repeats. Did anyone ever actually see the cat belonging to mrs Slocombe?

Of course it's big new for him - his son died - never having experienced it myself (and I hope I never do), I'm going to go out on a limb and say that days don't get any worse than they got for him yesterday. Very sad.
