The list of gangs that the police have identified in London is amusing me, some of the names are just stupid.

My local crew is "t-block" but I really, really like the sound of "tottenham lost souls". They sound like they sit around writing poetry and complaining about how their parents don't understand them while painting their bedrooms black.

"Man Dem" is an inversion of "Those Men" and refers to a bunch of friends. Innit, bredren.

Mash Town could well be a restaurant, and Jeeperz just brings to mind the gang travelling round in the Mystery Machine thwarting janitors who like to dress up in spooky outfits.

How appropriate is it that the gang in SW4 (mainly Clapham) is called SUK. It sounds more like their mission statement than their name.

Reminds me of the book White Teeth where there's a gang that are basically meant to be Nation of Islam and they name themselves Keepers of the Eternal and Victorious Islamic Nation - ie K.E.V.I.N. I recall that one of the characters just says "we are aware that we have an acronym problem."
