Why would you induce at 40 weeks in a normal pregnancy? Normal gestation is 38-42 - surely you don't induce until you have to? My first one was induced at 42 weeks, it's not the best type of labour to have, definitely to be avoided if at all possible.

no idea. she (my cousin) was huge though, so that may have had something to do with it. i know crap all about pregnancy other than you can have chemo during the third trimester.

I always get the size of a four bedroomed house with a granny annexe and integral double garage when I am pregnant. Really not pretty.

We've been told that the earliest they like to induce is 10 days after the 40 weeks. For for us it is next Friday.

In my wife's country Taiwan, they will induce on request after 37 weeks. There is a strong cultural desire for babies to be born on specific dates corresponding to lucky numbers! Hence my wife is finding our system a little strange!

Personally I think we've got it about right. If at all possible I would like as natural a birth as possible!
