If you watch national television (regardless of maybe living in a predominately Caucasian area). How are you expected to learn about other cultures if the likes of the BBC, Granada, Border television etc, etc, don’t air ethnic programs?
Yeah the BBC have Asian entertainment channels... and really I guess that's my point. It's merely a token gesture. It's still segregation.
If its a multicultural society that we are all supposed to be living in. Then where are our multicutural TV programmes / TV stations?
If it's good TV then surely we will all watch it without prejudice.
So, if people want change and education then the first step is to mix TV up. Airing the Kumars or showing EAST is EAST just wont do.
If anyones to blame then its the people who run television & radio stations.
