Computer giant, Apple, has invented an anti-theft device for its electronic gadgets.

Each device, and its charger, will be given a unique code, which means the gadget cannot be charged from an unauthorised power source.

Thus, the battery will run down, and the device ultimately become unusable.

Topher the Bopher, you obviously haven't had your weet-a-bix........ apple = fruit.

So I guess if you lose your charger you're screwed then...... no more borrowing someone elses.

Hmm.

There will be ways of getting round it anyway, there always is.

I read about this a couple of weeks ago, and from my understanding of it it works by comparing a code in the iPod (or other device) with a code on the computer. With that in mind, all the potential thief would have to do is not plug it into a computer or at least one with iTunes on, unless they're planning to also disable the 'guardian' circuit if no code is found (which I can see resulting in many false positives).

It's a good idea, and it'll be interesting to see how it's going to be implemented, if at all.

Of course there will be, you'll just need to solder on some jump wires to bypass the disabled 'guardian' circuit, although it is unlikely that the average thief would know how or bother to do this.

i guess there's no point in underestimating the brain power of thieves, but the crux of the itunes recovery thing is that the thief actually uses itunes to buy music and update the thing. there are tons of hacks around that!

Or incredibly dull.

Or both.
