Did you know that you can actually get mobile 'phones that don't interfere with Hospital equipment!

I made this discovery this morning... how cool is this.

Hasn't it always been a precautionary rule anyway? I don't think there was ever any proof that mobile phones interfered with hospital equipment, it just wasn't worth the risk.

A nurse told me last week that it was a load of nonsense. We were talking about her motorbike when she produced her mobile to show me photos of it - I was more interested in how she was allowed her mobile in a hospital. She said that unless your phone was sitting on top of a heart monitor, it wasn't gonna make any difference.*

Same goes for planes, I think.

*she told me that she would deny all knowledge of this conversation if I was caught by the Sister.

Tis true, the chance of something bad happening is absolutely minimal, but the law suit society that we live in perpetuates these silly rules. THe same goes with phones and petrol pumps....... you're not going to blow the place up by ordering pizza.

i never heard the no mobile phones in hospitals thing. in all of my recent medical/hospital adventures recently, they always tell me i can talk on my phone during treatment. i think the only time this wasn't true was when i was in the operating room, but i was unconscious.

the gas station thing is more about not grounding yourself before you touch the pump.

Even then, it still takes quite a lot of energy and the correct atmospheric conditions to actually ignite petrol (gasoline to you Kendra).

that's true. it's not like you see petrol stations exploding every day because people weren't properly grounded before touching the pump.
stupid pretrol/gasoline. i started saying petrol at work the other day and confused some people. then i was accused of being pedantic (what am i, adam?) i wasn't thinking.
also, in road warrior, when humongous says "give me the gasoline," i don't think "give me the petrol," would sound as cool.
they should make mobile phones dead in the cinema.

No mobile 'phones in cinemas / theatres would be extremely welcome, I must say. They always put up signs in cinemas about "no mobiles" on the screen, but people will persist in keeping them on regardless.

My mobile is never off, but I always put it on silent in the cinema and if it goes off I don't check it until I get out.

They should ban any electrical equipment from being in cinemas and then just place a huge electro-magnet in the middle of the cinema to create a huge electro-magnetic field every so often to destroy any mobile phones. This would also destroy any video cameras that are recording the film. One disadvantage would be for people with pacemakers, especially if they were watching a particularly intense film.

when i went and saw the bourne ultimatum mondya night, they said "please silent your cell phone". i think they've given up the whole turning them off thing. they also now tell people "don't provide your own sound track" aka shut up.

Yeah, they ask that over here as well. The best time to go to the cinema is when most other people are working (unfortunately I am also normally at work in these hours.) Going to see a popular film on the first weekend of release is a no-no if you don't want a load of loud kids in there.

It does make me laugh when they request that you don't crunch your popcorn, when they sold it to you in the first place. Not that it affects me, I don't eat popcorn.

Oh, sorry for the double post - was it good, the Bourne Ultimatum? (Crap anecdote, but not as crap as SoR's earlier: I know someone who was an extra in it, she was very excited at the prospect of chasing Matt Damon around with a gun.)

during the waterloo scene?
bourne ultimatum was pretty good. i think some of the fight scenes were a little jerky, but overall it was a pretty good way to end the trilogy. you all should go see it.

I've no idea, but I know she chased him about with a gun. I've not seen the first two yet though, I've been meaning to for ages.

The couple sitting next to me at The Simpsons movie had, quite obviously, walked into a sweet shop and made sure they bought every single bag of sweets that had the loudest crinkly paper ever made.

To make it worse, they tried to open their sweets quietly so it took forever. Also, when they started on what smelt like cheese and onion crisps, they tried crunching them quietly.

It's beyond me why people think they need to consume anything while watching a film?

Billy agrees... Its not work safe mind you. Or for those with a nervous disposition to the work "f*ck"...

(PS - The Simpsons is a good watch.)

I like to have a Subway while I'm watching, but I generally unwrap it before the film starts, so I don't cause paper rustling or anything similar during the film.

So you're one of the inconsiderates who like to stink out the cinema then. I'll keep an eye out for a ping pong playing sub-way eater....... and chuck some malteasers at ya heed.

I could be guilty of that, yes. It's a nice smell though, it's not like I tread in dog shit.

I also fail to see the point of Subway - I want a sandwich, I don't want a lot of faffing about and it always costs too much.
