I heared Chris talk about fatloss on one of his shows a while ago and the fact that he knocked his head in training like crazy.....and only lost a tiny bit of weight. He also wanted to know why this was?

Im not sure about posting links to other sites here as i dont know the forum rules.

But if anyone has any questions like this or is interested in any other heath issue gimme a PM and i can discuss or we can post it here for all to see.

:D

I'm pretty sure you lose it physically (i.e., your belly goes down) before you lose it in weight. I don't know where I heard that but I did somewhere.

Only four of us!!! hehe

The problem is that people associate general weight with health (e.g. Why going to you GP so he can assess your B.M.I is pointless). The ONLY bad weight anyone can carry is fat weight and unfortuneatly scales cannot tell you anything about your fat levels.

Like you mentioned the only way to be consistant in knowing you are losing body fat is to compose a set or results based on measurements. For men it is generally easier, measure the part where the most of your belly girth is, over the belly button usually. For females its harder as they store fat in all different places! So Females should be looking in the mirror, assessing where they are carrying the most fat and measure the circumferences. (Ive had women clients who have to measure arms, legs, chest, belly AND bum as they get fatter in ALL those places, this is dependant on genetics and hormones generally tho.)

One you have those baseline measurements, you record them on an excel spreadsheet or paper diary. it will surprise many people how the fat actually comes off, half an inch from the left arm one month, then two inches from the bum the next.....it comes off in different places at different times, but generally speaking as long as the total of the measurments are going down you are losing fat. The scales will annoy and confuse people.

What is it you do then? And whats the secret to becoming thin and sexy? (Well, thin. The sexy part is sorted).

Also - is this, by any chance, going to lead to you plugging a website somewhere along the way?

I used to go to school with a Scot, his nickname was Haggis.

It's slightly more original than the Scottish bloke in the pub, who invariably gets called "Scottish John" or "Scottish".

Hey, he likes being called Scottish. And Haggis liked being called Haggis.

Scottish has one of the strongest Scottish accents I've ever known (with the possible exception of Rab C Nesbitt.)

I call Blackie "Irish". He likes it.

Am I the first to be tempted to comment on the (stereotype reliant) irony of a Scot giving advice on a healthy lifestyle? I'll listen though, I need all the help I can get. Nice to meet you Haggis. Don't believe a word Foot Loose tells you about me, it's all lies.

I want tablet! I'm all out! Don't like Kit Kats. They're not even comparable. Although this has turned into a sweets talk and I'm pretty sure Haggis didn't mean that when he posted the health & wellbeing thread. Haggis, nice to meet you. If I ran 5 miles today and 5 miles tomorrow and it's 9:30PM right now, can I not eat a whole blueberry scone w/cream & jam? And, is my Earl Grey/Newcastle/Guinness vegetarian diet unhealthy?? (This is a purely rhetorical question because even if you say YES, as my physician has, I will not change.)
