The topic of the day by Edith is "British Culture" : i.e. if you were going abroad on hols./working, which items would you choose to talk about that would accurately sum up "British things"? for example, lager? I suggested the BBC.

What do you think? :-)

Definately lager. Probably, for the majority of Brits, the topic of sport would come up.

all those .tk url's are about as much use as a chocolate fire guard! I had one and it canceled out after 1 year if memory serves right.

BBC Radio / TV
Yorkshire Tea
Marston's Pedigree
Old Rosie Cider
Fabric Nightclub
Mr Scruff
Roast dinners
Canal trips
The Yorkshire Dales
British Comedies

If everything else about Britain dissapeared, that is what I'd want to keep.

That's why I linked directly to the proboards site; well, that and I hate adverts.

They have this feature on the website called the BBC iPlayer. One of its main functions is to let you hear the shows from the last week. It's pretty cool.

The Iplayer is great but rubbish if you want to skip the music.

Viv the .tk thing is like a cheep tacky version of the .co.uk or .com web adresses and they are actually generating un-nessasary traffic on the net because the .tk URL's are going to Tokelau which is a territory of New Zealand made up of a combined 5 sq mi of land. Tokelau provides .tk domain names free of charge, but forces the placement of advertising banners on all provided domains.

Me too. Whatever people say about the BBC, there's no other country who has an equivalent that they can be equally as proud of.

Its all true, and its the reason we're here, Sky, ITV, all based on making money, ITV are in trouble as they refuse to move with the times. It was there first and it'll be there last..hopefully.

I agree. However, I think the Royal Bank of Scotland notes are prettier than the English ones.

There's something even more pleasing about your coinage. Especially the pound coins with the English, Scottish and Welsh symbols on the reverse and the Latin and Welsh edge inscriptions. My children have a collection of foreign coins from all over the world and the British ones are far superior in beauty. Some of the others look like no thought or effort went into their design.
