So basically, I'm going to London for a few days in April to see my family and my paw has suggested the Comedy Store to go to.

Has anyone been? Is it good? Tar!

I've been to many stand up nights but never the Comedy Store.

I imagine they will put on a good nights entertainment though. Jongleurs in Glasgow certainly do. I was there for my birthday a couple of weeks back.

You should have a good time. It's certainly got a good reputation for being one of the best comedy clubs in London.

I don't know how much comedy you've been to, but when I first went to a proper 'comedy club' that features comedians who are on 'the circuit', it was quite noticeable how different the crowd were. The audience are certainly more quick to judge (and disapprove) than those audiences who pay to see a certain comedian. Whilst this might be obvious, it certainly surprised me how much more heckling there was. It can get a bit awkward at times if a bad comic is on.

We saw a guy at The Stand comedy club in Glasgow. He was seriously dire - the only applause was from those who felt sorry for him. Scroll forwards two months and we go to Jongleurs and he was there, doing the exact same material as before. The crowd in Jongleurs were even less kind on him so it kinda made me wonder: why do the same material over and over if people tell you it's shit?

I've heard quite a few comics say that the advice given to most new comedians is 'Do 100 shows, and then decide if you want to continue or not.' It's probably good advice for a comedian who'd otherwise make life choices on a bad first night. However, it does potentially mean that 100 audiences have to sit through their shit material before they finally decide it's not for them.
