Ok guys I need your help and support. I decided to weigh my self today for the first time in 2 years. (I'm not sure my scales are working properly as they weighed me at 4 different weights but I have taken the weight they weighed me at twice - which was not the lowest weight)

So........

*Deep breath*

I am currently 14 stone. I would like to get down to 10 stone by Christmas (hell I'd like to get down to 8 stone but I'm being realistic)

I know I can start exercising more - in fact I started yesterday - but it has to be done in the privacy of my own home to start off with cos I daren't go out running etc until I have lost at least some off my chest and stomach.

I know if I cut out the booze I will lose more weight - although contrary to popular belief I don't drink that often.

My main problem is that I lose the impetus and get lazy/stop caring after a little while so I thought if you lot could help by encouraging/bullying/reminding me a bit on a daily/weekly basis I might actually stick at it.

I'll try not to turn it into a blog I promise and if it annoys too many people then I'll stop posting in it, I just need some help.

So I guess my question is - will you help/bully/encourage me?

(I am aware that I will get abuse from many people for this thread by the way but I'll take it)

Wii Fit. Its really good and you do it in your living room. When no-one else is there. Also Wii Sports (which I know you have)- try the boxing, its a killer!

Yes, Wii fit's a good way of doing it. And 4 stone by Christmas is doable, you'll have to be strict with you. And I'll do my best to bully you into it.

Sounds dumb, but walking is a great way to loose weight (I think Rachel may have mentioned this on the show as well). If you can do it on a treadmill at a constant speed and a slight incline, so much the better.

The key is doing it for a decent period of time (min 30-40 mins per session); that's much more effective than 20 mins of frantic running and ending up half way to a heart attack. Length not speed - so I've heard. ;)

Am I being thick? Surely 14 stone isn't that bad? I'm only 13 (I have never been bothered to weigh myself until the other day).

You can't edit in 'Ramble'.

Depends on your height. I am five seven and last summer i weighed 13st 8lbs, which made me borderline obese according to my BMI. Since then I've lost a stone but am still pretty overweight for my height.

I haven't been dieting since xmas but just started again this week - I do Weight Watchers, which works for me and i know the system so doesn't cost me anything. I still don't exercise enough but I'm working on it! So S4B I am definitely with you on this and of course I'll help in any way I can. I know what it's like to be fed up of your appearance...

Absoutely - S4B I'm with you too - i have put on weight in the last year and I am allowed to get back to the gym and stuff now, I just haven't bothered. So I'm not going to say how much I weigh, but i would like to lose - 2 stone. That will get me back to where I was the year before I got married.

Can I join in on this too? I'm not happy with how much I weigh, and I want to be back to a healthy weight. My BMI thingy is something stupid, 27 I think. So I do need to lose weight but am never motivated enough to do it. I am at the moment though, so any helpful tips would be appreciated.

Get out and climb that hill! Preferably a couple of times a week!

Whoever it was who said walking is the best - absolutely right. Its better than running - but you do tend to need somewhere nice to walk and if there are some hills or a bit of difficulty, so much the better. I just came back from a week walking in the Peak District which was nice - we have lots of place to walk around here, but no hills! Still, its better than nothing. But Ez, you live in the Lake District, you have no excuse!

It's raining and I have lots of work to do. Does that count as an excuse?

Rain isn't an excuse. Work probably is though.

Weight watchers points system. You don't need to go as you can work out points of just about anything (I got a free app for the iPhone to do it) and you can google the rules. I've done it a few times and the only hard bit is sticking with it. But that's true about any diet.

Combine it with exercise and the weight just drops off.

Good luck.

I'm in on this aswell. I am 6ft2 and currently about 15st (according to our cheap tesco value, gives a different reading depending which floor tile you put it on, scales) I signed up to our local gym and have my first session on Wednesday with the fitness instructor, which I am a bit nervous about.

I have a holiday in August and I want to reduce the Moobs and the beer belly by then. fingers crossed!

I'm with you S4!!

I'm with you S4 - I want to lose my stomach for my wedding in September. I'm a little under 16 st and 6'1 and I am losing weight, but It's just my belly and man boobs. I'm not going to commit to a running plan because I know I won't do it, but I have been walking quite a bit now it's a bit warmer (just had a mile walk at lunch time.

Thanks Zooty & Andy J.

This may sound strange, but reducing the size of your portions of food can work as well, I am a very eater and eat far more than I should. Eating slower and having a smaller portion can work along side any training you do.

I'm trying that too Lima, I eat too quickly I know that so I'm going to slow down big time.

Toph, I am lucky enough to get 20% off at HMV so I'm going to get it for my birthday in a couple of weeks time.

If you're lucky to find it in stock mind, It's still VERY hard to get hold of.

There's an offer for the Wii fit and a balance board to go with it being launched on Friday at HMV I'm just going to ring my mate there and get him to reserve one for me.
