We must have had a thread like this before, surely. Also I don't have a partner. I have a flatmate, but I don't think he really likes it when I sing in the flat, he told me off for singing the other day. He said it was distracting him from his game of Lego Batman.

I'm still a sucker for "Castles in the Sky."

Lego Batman is serious business. Don't mess with that. Unless you were doing the Batdance.

No, I wasn't dancing in any fashion. i was just sitting with my laptop on my knee singing along to the Tedious Link choice after I'd done the transcription (it was Hard To Handle by the Black Crowes).

It is well known to people I know that one of my favourite songs is 'Nine to Five' by Dolly Parton. I can't tell you why.

I think that's my favourite song that she's written, although I have to say I prefer Whitney's rendition to Dolly's. Another favourite of mine is Love Is Like a Butterfly.

Here are my current subject-to-change-in-any-particular-order-top-ten.

1. Sledgehammer/Peter Gabriel
2. Our House/Madness
3. Don't Stop Beleiving/Either Version
4. Fire/Kasabian
5. Mr. Blue Sky/Eletric Light Orchestra
6. Santa Cruz (Your not that far)/The Thrills
7. Porcelain/Moby
8. Anthem/Moby
9. You've Got the Love/F+TM
10. Shock Horror/The View (Surely one of the most underrated songs of all time)

A few years off having a partner yet and I'm not really into that musical-esque singing love songs at random thing.

I probably wouldn't be able to name all my favourite songs without going thru my mp3 player, but off the top of my head I'd say...

Ace of Spades by Motorhead (the only song I have a tattoo of, so far)
Voodoo Chile by Jimi Hendrix
Give It Away by the Chili Peppers
Alive by Pearl Jam
Enter Sandman by Metallica
Motorcycle Emptiness by Manic Street Preachers
Stillborn by Black Label Society
Imperium by Machine Head
almost all of the Appetite For Destruction album by Guns N' Roses

She did that live on Jools Holland's Hootenanny on New years Eve - I have never seen or heard such a brilliant live performer in my life EVER. As far as her records are concerned I can take them or leave them, but live she is absolutely riveting. Most singers with her vocal precision tend to be a bit sterile and mechanical sounding, but she doesn't, she has all the technique AND all of the performance you could ever want. I want to be her.
