The 'How big a Chris Moyles Fan are you?' thread got me thinking...

Other than the obvious, is there anything/one you'd say you were 'obsessed' with?
I don't mean it literally, but for instance, a subject that would instantly come to mind if you ever asked what your Mastermind chosen subject was?

I think I have a few -

The guitarist Slash - as was said by someone about Moyles, I would love to shake the mans hand and get to chat with him sometime in my life

Spiderman - the comic books mainly, I've been reading them for about 12 years and I still get them today.

Robots - not the shitty Robin Williams movie, but the concept of robots in Sci-Fi, especially the ones from 80's movies.

10 years ago I would have said 'Red Dwarf' and 'Starwars' as two more, but I've kinda grown out of them.

My Mastermind subject would definitely be Only Fools and Horses. Cat would tell you I have an obsession with it.

Mine's rather obvious as present, Doctor Who, absolutely love the programme whether it's the classic series or modern series. Oddly enough 20 years ago I absolutely hated the programme, now it's my favourite programme on TV :)

Other than the obvious I'd assume covers both Mr Moyles and football in my case...

Star Trek. I'm a serious Trekkie. To the point I * hate being called a Trekker. The johnny-come-latelys who joined in at the Next Generation or later can have that term, I'm sticking with Trekkie thanks very much.

I suppose the fact this is the last series of 'Ashes to Ashes' doesnt help in the obsession stakes much. Trying to understand the 'world' of Gene Hunt and co truly is fascinating. It's escapism at it's best, a world away from reality. I will be following it closely.

I hope they don't turn him into something horrid. He is awesome. Whilst Chris Moyles isnt on this week i am watching the first series of Life of Mars in the mornings as i'm getting ready for work. It is sucha great show.

Looking forward to the next episode of Ashes to Ashes tomorrow night!

My mastermind subject/obsession would most likely be the T.V show Friends.

I'd be able to give stiff competition for in depth knowledge on these two subjects too. Space Core Directive 34124 - No officer with false teeth should attempt oral sex in zero gravity. Lager, the only thing that can kill a vindaloo. The Eastbourne Zimmerframe relay team could outrun us. I can't marry anyone who's name sounds like a footballer clearing his nose. Oh yeah, a quality production.

Thanks Zoot, i'm now in deep with the Dwarf memories, must watch the whole lot again. Although, in my opinion, there are only really 6 series of RD, it all went a bit off track wth the newer stuff. Fancy CGI didn't suit the flavour of the show, the old cheap sets and props were integral to the show.

Beyond that, Its gotta be Bikes. As mentioned elsewhere I've had a love affair with motorbikes since I was young, so much useless info stored up.

Yeah, I mentioned mine in the other thread - Guns N' Roses and Lost. Also I s'pose you could count tattooing as one. I go thru phases of being completely obsessed with something for a while and then forgetting all about it, but those are the ones that have lasted more than a few years.

I think I have said this before......even numbers.
I can only have volume settings on the TV/Radio on even numbers and eating breakfast cereal e.g. Cheerios.......I dont eat them all in even numbers, but I have to finish them in an even number(Last spoon has to have 2-4-6 or 8 cheerios on it.........I will leave a cheerio if I get down to an odd number.
I will only get out of bed in the morning when my clock is on an even number......normally 6:20 at the moment :(

But then again, other things I dont give a shit about, I will watch BBC1 and ITV and F.....no I dont watch Five but it has nothing to do with the channel number!

I'm not autistic, it doesnt bother me, its just a weird thing I do and I can't even remember how it started

Not sure I could get away with that being a subject on mastermind though

Oh yeah, I didn't take this to mean about OCD. I have all sorts of weird OCD-type things cos I have very mild Asperger's, and that probably contributes to why I get obsessed with things like TV shows for a while and then forget all about them, but as you say DD, you can't really have OCD habits as a specialist subject on Mastermind.

DD, you have no idea how happy you have just made me! My missus gives me loads a shizzle because fo this. I too cannot have the volume on an odd number, well, 1,3,7 and 9 are out. Strangely 5 or 15 etc are acceptable. If someone else touches the volume and leaves it on 13, I can't get it outa my head and have to change it to either 12 or 14.....

Also, when hanging washing on the line, an item held up with two pegs, must be colour co-ordinated; if the first peg out is blue, the second must be too.

Thank * i'm not the only one. Mrs Dimtimjim will be hearing about you later. Mucho thankso.

But, the whole Cherio thing....? Your *ing nuts, mate!! :D

I think there is one subject that I am pretty universally knowledgeable about, enough for Mastermind anyway - but I wouldn't say I'm obsessed. I was just interested, so I read a lot. Its a bit of a dull one to most people though - the work (published and unpublished), life and family of Jane Austen.

Apart from the obvious, I'd say Lee Evans stand-up and not an obsession but something I seem to just pick up is songs and song lyrics. I'm not as 'bad' as Dave knowing the years though!

Me too, including the multiples of 5. It's strange, but from the little amount of research I've done on this, it's very common for people who set volume at even numbers to also accept multiples of 5 as well.

I also do the colour-coordinated clothes pegs.

Well I was thinking about this, and I am too lazy to be obsessed with anything other than Cider and Ciggies.

Best summed up by Mumford & sons

" If I had an enemy bigger than my Apathy I would have one" (won?)

Classic lyrics.
