Coventry are unbeaten in their pre season games and not conceeded any goals which is all good. We regularly do well at the beginning of each season then always seem to mess it up half way through.

Arsenal letting more players go than they're buying, oh dear :(

I still can't believe that four clubs are after Sylvestre, they must be desperate

Still got me fingers crossed for West Ham to get the Olympic stadium after 2012 rather than Scummy Spurs :D

Mark Hughes is a great manager, shouldn't have been sacked by Man City in my opinion.

I'm liking the fact that Chicharito scored a cracker last night. great pre season for Man Utds youngsters and elder statesmen and I'm looking forward to the whole squad getting back together next week

Celtic losing the first leg of their champions league qualifier 3-0, with no away goals.

Oh my.

Hard to lose 3-0 WITH away goals really.

Half that team were new signings. Juarez hadn't even played any of the pre-season friendlies! These sodding qualifiers come too early.

Pretty much. Those greedy bastard players want more money than anyone up here has. Even a duffer of a player costs too much now.

ah c'mon now, i was just outlining the fact that the chance for you to get the away goals had passed. always makes a tie much more difficult.

good luck to you though - i know you were robbed of the champions league last year ;)

I think the away goals rule is stupid and should be scrapped.

Echoing what DD said, I'm tempted to put a few quid on Chicharito to be top scorer in The Premiership. That boy looks lethal, a new Solskjaer? 50-1 looks like value to me.

i disagree in principal.

away ties are always seen as being more difficult, and in the past have had clear bias (in part to the influence of the crowd).

so i'm a fan of the rule.

however it should never be continued past 180 minutes. ever.

It was brought in to make sides more attacking away from home but what its done now is make home sides more defensive. The only way forward is to have a maximum height limit of 5 foot 5 for keepers.

He can't be the new Solskjaer, the circumstances that made Solskjaer so special don't exist with Hernandez. Hernandez is known, sought after, people have been talking about him for a couple of years as an exciting prospect. Solskjaer was virtually unknown when he was signed and became such a successful player at United. A new Solskjaer would have to be a surprise package, an unexpected piece of brilliance. Hernandez brings massive expectation with him, so he'll never have that same impact, how ever well he might do.

United paid about £1.5 million for Solskjaer didn't they? He may have been unknown to football fans in this country but I suspect he was quite well known in football.

I'm hoping he will become a legend, but to be in the same bracket of Solskjaer, he is going to have to be pretty amazing.

As far as I remember he was pretty much unheard of outside Norway. Most people are outside Norway. I was basing the comment on that, and that I remember at the time someone saying that he was going to find it very hard to break into the United first team, especially as they were on the point of signing Shearer.

Good start for City. Won our first match putting us 4th in the Championship. Might try and go to some matches this season. Been to a few away ones over the years, but going to Rugby matches has kinda taken over football over the last year or two.

We were 1-2 up at Exeter until the 87th minute when they equalised. Arse.
