Scolling the internet I came across this...

Terrestrial television companies currently have limited bandwidth. This means that, at present, there is little or no option to offer HD services, until after the final analogue television services are switched off in 2012 freeing up substantial bandwidth.

Hopefully this will mean more channels on freeview.

Any views on what you want see if/when more channels will be added.

Surely it won't mean more channels just more in HD

I refuse to buy Sky, not because I'm tight but because I just dislike the company, if I did go for pay TV I'd probably go via cable.

Plus you pay £££ for what exactly, hundreds of channels of which you only end up watching a small handful, one of the girls at work, her husband pays £81 a month for Sky 8O

I don't have sky either. I see it as a rip off. They just charge you for everything. And there aren't even that many decent channels on it that you can't get on Freeview.

I love Sky. I've spent hours watching stuff on Sky+ just off Sky Atlantic from the last few weeks.

One thing you got on Sky which you didn't on Freeview was the birthday show on red button. Hope the skiing was entertaining. ;).

They can't switch off analouge till they've sorted freeview. Which they haven't.

Woah - a business that charges you for everything? You are shitting me!

Sky is alright if you watch a lot of different TV. If you only watch the four main channels, then Freeview is fine. If you like documentaries and sports and other stuff like that, Sky or Virgin packages are a better idea, but otherwise it's a bit of a waste of money every month.

I meant like excessively though, for example an extra £10 per extra room and if you want to have Sky player on your Xbox and you already have Sky it is only free if you have multi room otherwise you have to pay something like £50 a month just to get some channels on your xbox that you can already get on your Sky box.

We would have cable if we could but we can't, so we have Sky. Its expensive but we went without for a few years and it was rubbish with just Freeview, so we got it back.

We have Sky. Not the movies tho cos we just download any films we wanna see, and not sports cos neither of us are interested in sport. We pay £35 a month between two of us, which includes internet with unlimited downloads (truly unlimited, no fair usage policy).

I've never lived in a house with it before (my dad is tight and refuses to pay for it, and I've never been able to afford it on my own) and I do really like it. Yeah, there are a lot of channels we don't watch, but there are tons of things I wouldn't be able to see without it - 30 Rock on Comedy Central, LA Ink on Discovery, True Blood on FX, new Simpsons on Sky 1, Mad Men on Atlantic (although that's not actually happened yet), American Dad on FX, etc. Not to mention stuff like repeats of Frasier on Comedy Central or Outnumbered on GOLD which are just nice to watch again sometimes. So yeah, I definitely think its worth it.

We had Sky for TV, Broadband and Phone, but their BB was shockingly crap. We were paying for up to 8meg I think, but only getting about 1, sometimes 500k. When I was complaining they didn't care and wanted to charge me for engineers to come out and have a look. We are now with Virgin Media, the Broadband is excellent, but the TV box is a bit crap, very slow to change channel and constantly have to reset it. We are only with them now because we get discount through Mrs J's Brother. If I had my way then Sky for TV and virgin for Broadband, but that would be quite expensive.

I've literally just (re)joined Sky after many years of being apart. We had a falling out and decided to go our seperate ways.

Whilst I agree whole heartedly with comments made here about 'not being with sky on principal' and 'sky is a rip off' as I believe both to be true, I have had to reacquaint myself.

I'm not happy about a) joining the Sky empire and b) having to now pay £240 a year for TV viewing. We watch little TV and Freeview was always enough, with ONE exception. Eurosport. If I want Eurosport (which I do for the bikes) I have to get Sky, as BT Vision don't do Eurosport and Virgin TV isn't in our area yet ('cos I is posh and live out in da sticks, innit).

So, £240 a year for one channel. It had better be a good WSBK/BSB season(s).

Not if last season is anything to go by! Last years WSBK was way better than the MotoGP season. As a general rule, i'd agree though. But MotoGP is covered on the Beeb, so thats not a problem. WSBK and BSB are shown on normal TV, but 2 hours worth squeezed into 20 mins will never be an accurate reprasentation.

We used to have a table in our garage which i used quite regularly until about 6 or 7 years ago but it just stopped getting used so we got rid of it. Now i just play a couple of times a year on holiday. I quite regret not trying to take up either tennis or table tennis at about 10 as i could have been quite good as i started playing early but just gave up
