I'm the first to hold up my hands and admit being a grammar nazi, proud of it too. Was wondering if anyone else has bad grammar as a pet hate or just gets annoyed by it?

They're going there with their friends. You're going there with your friends.

You'd be shocked at how little people could write that correctly. Sickens me.

Nah.... Got more important issues to occupy my mind.

Plus, why let it get you down, intelligence can't be metered by spelling/gramma alone. I myself really struggle with words and gramma, yet can remember pretty much every phone/credit card/bank account/car registration number I have ever come across. I know someone else who is a master of anything plumbing related and runs a successful company, yet show him a globe he couldn't point out the where the UK is in the world.....

Why let it get ya down Bonanzoid, surely there are more important/relevant things for you to stress about?!

I am definitely a grammar Nazi. I even correct people on Facebook statuses.

It annoys me sometimes, but not always. It depends on the context, content and the person posting to be honest. On the whole I prefer to read straightforward, properly spelled (spelt?!) posts which make sense, and good grammar is conducive to that, but unless the person is coming across as completely illiterate and basically thick I don't get too het up about it any more.

For instance there is at least one regular poster here who often posts poorly constructed and grammatically incorrect stuff on here, but he is always funny, always talks sense and always has something interesting to say. That matters more to me than getting everything correct.

No. Really really no.

No again - he has never had anything remotely interesting to say and the only time he makes me laugh is when he leaves.

It doesn't matter who I was referring to, it was a specific example within a generality, the idea is what I was trying to get across. And, given the above, clearly failing.

I am definitely a bit of a spelling and grammar Nazi and even though I know it's irritating and try not to do it, I can't help myself sometimes. I'm very OCD and that's one of the things that brings it out. On a forum I used to use called metalsludge there was a poster called Spellcheck Police who would just post underneath people's posts pointing out their mistakes - I always found it funny. His avatar was Samuel L Jackson in Pulp Fiction and his sig was "English, motherf***er! Do you speak it?"

Also, no one has pointed out that I started a sentence with "And". Although I believe that is deemed allowable these days.

I think it probably is me.

I do try, but often re-read after posting and have mis-spelt lots of words, and missed letters out, which does change the meaning of what I was trying to say.

Anyway, apologies.

I sympathise. After all, this is forum posting, not applying for a job. Tis hardly towering over all other aspects of my life in the hierarchy of importance.
