Anyone else think Microsoft are releasing software/OS too soon?

It's been rumoured that the above three are currently being developed, but really, if they are going to be released in 2012, it's a bit soon isn't it?

Windows 7 isn't that different to Vista, ao it makes me wonder, how different will these bits of Software be?

Server 2008 R2 hasn't been out that long as it? I wonder if the next workstation OS will be 64-bit only.

I think it could be!

Two years between Office suites is a bit close together?

Definitely!

There was a major difference between Windows 98 and XP, again, there was a lot of difference between XP and Vista. Vista is pretty similar to Windows 7

Yeah, Vista was buggy and wasn't very good, apparently, so Windows 7 plugged the security holes and various problems, and is a lot better (apparently).

I think the Microsoft have a 3ish year release cycle don't they? So no, I don't think it's too soon.

95 - 95
98 - 98
XP - 01
XP SP2 - 04 (exception, but SP2 was a major update)
Vista - 06
7 - 09
8? - 12

Looks about right to me.
There was also ME but I think Microsoft would rather brush that one under the rug.

My grandmother had Windows ME, it was absolute rubbish.

There was also Windows NT4.0(1996?) and 2000.

I've got Vista Home Premium (32-bit SP2), since March 2009, and I can honestly say, I've had no problems with it whatsoever.

My computer is:
Dell Inspiron 530
455GB HDD
10GB Recovery Drive
3GB RAM
Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 (2.53GHz)
ATI Radeon HD 3650 Graphics Card (1535MB Total, 256MB Dedicated)

Good to hear! I only know about it from what I've read in the tech press and from various people; not from experience. I've only used Windows XP/Mac OS X.

I've not really used Vista at all and am going from XP on old laptop to 7 (64 bit) on the one I've just ordered, so there should be a good few changes to get my head round. Fun, fun, fun.
