Prepare for the worst customer service experience you've ever had, if what we went through with Apple are anything to go by.

Basically every company with a call centre in India have crap customer service though so its maybe a bit harsh to single out Apple like that, but I've never had any dealings with them so i wouldn't know quite how bad it is

In the stores at least I've heard Apple are very helpful, and my experience with them have been great. You just have to be nice. Of course there are exceptions.

When I needed Apple their service was the worst I have ever known, but I am aware that I do seem to have been more than a little unlucky. Most people seem to have no problems.

i've had mixed experiences with apple.

how has the phone broken?

if it's a problem with the phone itself (non environmental) you should take it into the store, and they SHOULD replace it with a new one.

if you've broken it, then pay to get it fixed. apple will give you a new phone for around £100 and it's within warranty - or for screen issues, source an online company.

I've heard the Geniuses (i.e. staff) at the store are great if you're nice to them and cooperate rather than trying to make up a story about how your product is damaged.

Well..long story..but the iphone ended up down the toilet..unbelievable! It feel like living back in 2006 with these old non-smartphones..

I'm rushing through a girl's upgrade so I can use a HTC Desire from tomorrow until I get my iPhone sorted! So thanks for the suggestion :) I won't get anything from Apple would I..apart from them laughing their way to the bank?

I'll go through insurance, it's still not turning on :(

check if your insurance covers water damage.

02 care does - and they'll replace it the next day.

Apple warranty does not cover it, and many insurance policies don't cover water damage - who are you with?

Damaging a phone through water damage isn't really financially beneficial to apple, as it's not their cost cutting or negligence that's made your phone break - and your dropping it (or otherwise) down the toilet shouldn't really be their duty of care once they've sold it to you.

Best place for an iPhone. Leave it there to collect excrement for a month or two, it can only improve it.

After using the Andriod HTC phone for a week, I can safely say why I see people forking out a hell of a lot more for an iphone.

HTC isn't bad, a poor persons iphone though..

My Android phone is okay but I don't think the Android Marketplace is as good as the iOS App Store. Obviously the App Store has been going longer but I think there's a better choice.

The iPhone has more apps at the moment....but the Android app store is expected to overtake this year.

Yeah, and as Android gets more popular that's certainly, or it's very likely, going to happen.

Even currently, the gap won't be as big as the figures suggest when you consider how many apps do the same thing in the iPhone store (torch and spirit level apps, for example). You get the same in the Android Market, but to a lesser extent I think.

Companies are starting to take Android seriously now too - Tesco are designing an official app that is apparently 'round the corner', but won't be available until it's as close to perfect as they can make it.

Well, finally got a new iPhone!!

So much smoother than the HTC of last week. Anyway, got a result, bought a new one from apple store for £140, replacing my broken one, and then the insurance called me today saying they'll give me £350 to settle the claim..as they dont have 3gs stock. I bit the geezer's hand off..that'll learn him..

Excellent! There are many, many, many Android handsets out there that can take advantage of those kinds of apps. It makes sense, to me at least.
