I have had enough with the feeling among newbies mainly that to become an exciting and respected member of this board, you have to have all the decorations. these stars ad rankings are like badges, and everybody loves badges, so they post crap to get them. I think that to get rid of all the crap we should get rid of Stars and Ranking and if possible post counts. You can judge peoples respect on this board by the're post not by the stars. Even Oldies are motivated to produce verbal sewage just to become top poster. So i say enough of the thought pollution lets get rid of the shiny things that make the forum magpies post stuff that leads to people just ignoring posts.

I like the ranks...I guess the actual exact number of posts isn't that big a deal, but I like the ranks. I liked them even more when they were moyles-related (i.e. Producer Will, Comedy Dave, etc)

my opinion is that i could go either way. i dont particularly like or dislike them. if you get lots of people voting dont care then it puts value on the other votes

I feel privelaged to have my blue stars so I voted no. I'd still be happier with 7 blue stars though, but I won't complain.

i think mr erf's idea is rather good and might very well help stem the tide of pointless posts.

if you want to be popular kids, why not carpet bomb lots of radio 1 personalities with e-mails until they insult you live on air, develop an ego, undergo numerous strange character changes, adopt lots of foul avatars and insult everyone and later become their friends.

This can be acomplished under 500 posts easily.

I do agree with what your saying about people posting loads of crap just to get a higher ranking but I quite like the star system. Maybe it could be changed to be done on quality of posts not quantity and then that would also make the board better by people saying more intresting stuff not just pointless posts
