I read a review not long ago of the John Squire album which labelled it "guitar w*nkery" an I liked the phrase a lot although i felt it was unjustified. Well I dont know what the name for the stage up from guitar w*nkery is but the Stereophonics have found it. This album is dire. I liked all the Stereophonics previous albums although I was always a bit wary on the "rockier" songs.
They added two members who must have been rejects from The Shadows as they feel the need for guitar solos every two minutes. I actually started to like the first song but then it went on so long I was in danger of falling asleep at the wheel. If you must listen to the album try to listen to just the even numbered tracks as some of them are tolerable maybe even good (Maybe Tomorrow, Climbing The Wall).
Its a shame cos I like the Stereophonics an I will still buy the next album. I just hope they get some decent lyrics an stop arsing about.
