Has anyone seen this, its on BBC2 on Tuesday nights at 9.30. It is bloody hilarious, funniest thing I have seen in ages. Ricky Gervais is a comic genius.
My favourite is when this guy said
"I have no problem with gays in the army. Its just when where in battle, will he be looking at the enemy or looking at me, saying ooohhh, he looks tasty in that uniform."
and
"I'm not homophobic look at my CD collection, Queen, George Michael and The Pet Shop Boys, bummers all of them"
Make sure you watch it.
I agree, very funny show - it's VERY rare for me to laugh constantly through a show, but I did when the Office was on. Nice to see Ricky Gervais doing something decent for once. Theres been a few debates about The Office at The Corpses Forum, http://www.notbbc.co.uk/corpses. A few of the comedy purists didn't like it, it seems - and one person said that the 'gays' comment was an obvious one.
I thought it was very well observed, painful to watch - but very funny at the same time. The thing about the Office is that you know people just like the characters, which makes it even funnier.
the_dr

i liked the bit in the last one, when that man was doing interviews in his office and he kept saying 'i am' and the man he was interviewing said 'a child molester' or 'a problem child'

what is the point in repeating an old programme of have i got news for you. its not current, its a shoddy repeat. at least repeat something that a lot of ppl missed first time around like young ones or something

Have I Got News For You is class - the best program of the last few years. Ideally, BBC2 would show both new and old comedy (Blackadder please) regulary.
the_dr

The BBC never shows enough Blackadder. You can only watch one video so many times.

I understand what you're saying - but sometimes its fun to see what things were like in yesteryear (even if it was only last year). It's sortof like reading an old issue of Private Eye - quite interesting but also amusing. If it was up to me, the only things I'd have on BBC2 is comedy and Newsnight.
But thats just me.
the_dr

That was in reply to your kytv post. The Mary Whitehouse Experience was associated with Chris Morris I think, and Lee and Herring. It was a radio show wasn't it?
the_dr

nope really, it started off as a radio show but transfered to telly. it had 4 ppl
they were
1 david baddiel
2 newman (cant remember his first name)
3 steve punt
4 hugh dennis
newman and baddiel went on to do their own show on bbc2. (cue the 2 old gits)
"see that piece of turd lying on the ground made by keith chegwins rottweiler, thats you that is"
steve punt and hugh dennis can be seen propping up b-movie like crap sitcoms but they excel in their own radio show, the NOW show (good if you like topical comedy). its on friday night at 6:30 on radio 4.
you are possibly thinking of the day today, the chris morris vehicle which spawned alan partridge to the nation in 1994.
COMEDY REPEATS THEY SHOULD NOT SHOW
1 Only Fools and Horses (funny the first time, amusing the 2nd time, chuckle a 3rd time but for gods sake, everyone has seen it over 10 bleedin times)
2 Dads Army (same as above)
3 Desmonds (remind that sitcom in the hairdressers, the canned laughter was funnier than the show, dreadful)
4 Just Good Friends (Paul Nicholas need i say anymore)
5 HiDiHi (c'mon paul shane and su pollard are hilarious guys)
CONTROVERSIAL ONE
6 Smack the Pony - right i need to get this off my chest. yes the only reason to watch is for lovely sally phillips but its awful, the same crap jokes, the useless video booth thing taken from naked video (chewin the fat predecessor) but worst of all, the not at all funny end song, its just too embarrasing for me to watch anymore.
BRING BACK THE
1 friday night armistice
2 league of gentlemen repeats
3 monty python
4 a new bottom and not repeats

*Applause*
Good post - can't really argue with any of it. This is where I got confused:
Armando Iannuci - http://chilled.cream.org/collab.html
Like Chris Morris, Iannucci started out as an indie DJ in local radio, before becoming the producer of Radio 1's "The Mary Whitehouse Experience" almost by accident, and then dreaming up "On The Hour". Since then he has appeared in a couple of solo Radio 4 shows, presented a Music Show on Radio 1, and created "The Friday Night Armistice" for BBC2, as well as continuing to write with Steve Coogan and Peter Baynham. His new series, "The Armando Show", will appear on Channel Four later this year.
It seems he is the man behind quite a few of your favourite shows. I don't tend to listen to Radio 4 comedy, but maybe I will with things like People Like Us coming out of it. I have to agree with you on the Only Fools & Horses repeats - can't stand it. Only bit of Smack The Pony that was funny was the woman in the video booth who said 'Come, Come aboard the love train'.
the_dr

I've worn out my Blackadder tapes from watching them too much.
Yes we need new Bottoms (oo-er), re-runs of KYTV, One Foot in the Grave, The Young Ones, The New Statesman (Alan B'stard), The Mary Whitehouse Experience, Fist of Fun, Airwolf, Thundercats and Camblewick Green.
