So Defoe or Vassell?

Well it's a simple one for me. Vassell every time.

This may surprise some, but I say this on the basis that Vassell has been fantastic coming on as a substitute for England, showing lightning pace and getting the odd goal or two as well.

Vassell sometimes fails to show this for Villa, but he seems to do it almost every time with England and Eriksson will not forget that.

I think Vassell has more impact simply because of his pace, if you are choosing a sub then I'd agree. I don't think Defoe will start so that is what you are looking for. I'd take:

Owen
Rooney
Heskey (because he will)
Vassell
Smith

I'd choose Defoe over Smith anyday

i think defoe would do well but i cant see eriksson taking him over owen, heskey, smith, vassell or rooney. eriksson has always seemed to like certain players and vassell is one of them.

when is the squad announced? its soon surely?

i voted don't give a toss really but out of the two i think vassell because towards the end of a match when the other players are knackered and eriksson brings him on the other team won't be able to keep up with him

Defoe, Owen and Vassell fill a similar role i think Heskey and Smith have the benefit of giving us another option.

Everton now 2 international midfielders on their way to euro 2004, god some teams must be sh*te.
