I've just got a new Sony Ericsson K700i, which has Bluetooth. I've heard Scott Mills going on about some thing you can do to send messages to another Bluetooth phone. Can anyone explain to me how you do it, because I can't work out how.

Its basically like text messaging but its free, and can only send to phones within a certain area that also have bluetooth

sidla this is the way forward!

if your in quite a busy place like a pub for example, you can turn your bluetooth on and see who else in the area has theirs on, then just randomly send people msgs! people do it on trains a lot and then go and sh*g apparently and its good on a night out to stitch up your mates by sending pictures of them to random femails.

how did they think of that name?!

Named after King Harld Bluetooth of Denmark whos aim was to make Denmark and Norway comunicate better. Bluetooth allows phones to communicate better, thus they called it Bluetooth. I did my computing project on it last year!

Basically you make up a phone book entry with a wierd name, and then you can send that phone book entry to a phone nearby you. Then that contact name appears on their screen.

BlueJacking is the name I always hear for it, i think that's when the recipient doesn't WANT the crap sent to them by Bluetooth :D

I prefer warchalking (using non secured wireless networking in places usually marked somehow with chalk on walls or floors, hence the name) myself, but for now I'm off to do some Googlewhacking.

Thanks for explaining it, but how do you do it? What menu options do I have to go to etc... :?

It would help if someone's got the same phone as me.

I tell ya, with everyone using bluetooth so much, it's only a matter of time till we get the first wave of mobile phone viruses.. I need a new phone, I had a P900 but the screen b*ggered, so I used an old 3210 for ages till I shut it in a car door.

Heres how to bluejack.

1. Create a new contact, and where you normally put the name of the person, write your message. Something like "Hello, Im stalking you"
2. Save the contact
3. Go to a busy place
4. Turn your bluetooth On
5. Select that contact and send via bluetooth
6. It will now scan for other devices that are bluetooth enabled
7. Choose someone, and send.

There was a piece on Newsbeat that was a warning that they could be coming soon.

So you can't actually send a proper text message then?

I'm not liking the annoying 'joypad' type thing. It keeps thinking you've pressed it when you're trying to move in a direction. You have to own one to know what I'm talking about.
