In 2002 AD, as the Age of Pisces was giving way to the new age of Aquarius, the decision was officially taken to replace the BC/AD date referencing system with the new CE/BCE references which stand for "Common Era" and "Before the Common Era".

The Telegraph, on 13/12/2002 wrote:A secondary school has banned pupils from using the terms BC and AD when writing dates because they are deemed unsuitable in a multi-faith society.

Parents of pupils at the Dorothy Stringer School in Brighton were bewildered when they found their children writing BCE (Before Common Era) about the construction of Stonehenge.

The state school, which has only a few children from ethnic minorities, admitted yesterday that it had replaced Before Christ and Anno Domini, which have been in use since the 16th century, with BCE and Common Era.

Philip and Anne Long, whose 11-year-old son Alex is in his first year at the 1,600-pupil school, said they were "astonished" by the change.

People who say that should consider what they're actually saying.

Like what, I can't think of a single example of how religion has helped the world or the human race.

Look at how many wars and deaths it has caused. Also, a bit off topic, but did anyone hear the Pope's comments on Harry Potter around the time the new book was released? I can't remember exactly but he called it something along the lines of "hogwash, nonsense and pure fantasy". That's rich, coming from someone who's whole religion is based on that.

Errm, and Jesus went around starting wars did he?

It's not religion that causes trouble, it's corrupt individuals who claim to be acting in the name of religion.

So, how has religion helped the world? (Non-fictional examples only please!)

Martin Luther King was a christian.

Are you saying Jesus is fictional?

If there wasn't religion the corrupt individuals couldn't claim to be acting in the name of it.

That's irrelevant seen as all religions don't believe in Jesus.

Ah but a large per centage of the Italian and Sicilian arm of the Catholic Church is very involved in mafia activity... Almost as much as the politicians over there, so quite a lot involved in the religion (top bods as well) are corrupting the it.

So what? Was it his religion that made him seek racial equality, or was it that he saw that something was wrong with the world and so he wanted to fix it?

Yes.

The nutters would still be there without religion. Religion is an excuse, if we got rid of it - it wouldn't make a jot of difference

No, but they'd act in the name of something else.

Only the Jews dismiss Jesus completely, out of mainstream religions.
