From todays Sun:

BUBBLY Sara Cox has sensationally revealed she plans to quit Radio 1's Breakfast Show.

The gravel-voiced star is poised to step down early next year.

Sara, 28 famed for her party lifestyle admitted she will be sad to leave the flagship show, but won't miss going to bed early.

She told The Sun: It will really break my heart when I say bye to breakfast because I don't think I'll get the same buzz in the afternoon or early evening.

I don't find the early mornings difficult. But it would be nice to have the freedom to stay up late if I want to.

I love doing the Breakfast Show, I like waking up with people and it will be hard to stop. But I will be pleased to get my life back.

It does make it hard that people always come up to me and say: 'Shouldn't you be in bed? What time are you up in the morning'. I won't miss that

Sara took over the programme in 2000 from best pal Zoe Ball. She recently signed a new £1million three-year deal with Radio 1.

The contract starts in April and gives her the option to step down from the Breakfast Show after a year.

Sara says the contract also allows her to switch to another slot on the station.

Insiders at Radio 1 say the move is not linked to a drop in listeners.

Chiefs say Sara has clawed back 600,000 of the 700,000 her show had lost last summer.

They are desperate to keep her in the breakfast slot because she attracts around seven million listeners and a good proportion of their target audience of youngsters.

The blonde, who is married to club DJ Jon Carter, also presents Channel 4's Friday night music show Born Sloppy.

Possible replacements for Sara include fellow Radio 1 star Chris Moyles and XFM's Christian O'Connell
