From The Evening Standard.

He has pledged to save Radio 1 and yesterday began his mission with customary modesty. Chris Moyles shrugged off the threat of rival Johnny Vaughan and insisted he already had the winning formula.

After his first breakfast time show, the DJ said: 'I am the saviour of Radio 1. Today's was a great show. We didn't get taken off air and I didn't swear. The show will be similar to my afternoon show with the only difference being it's kids going to school rather than coming back from school and that I've got to get up bloody early in the morning.'

Moyles, who took over from Sara Cox after she lost more than 600,000 listeners, said he was 'not bothered' about Vaughan, who is replacing Chris Tarrant at Capital FM. 'Johnny's got to start off on a local station and work his way up,' he added. 'I don't know why everyone's going on about him.'
