After his impressive debut, new RAJAR results out today for March 22nd - June 20th show that Chris has lost 140,000 listeners from his Radio 1 Breakfast Show. However, those that stayed listened longer. A spokesman said: "The amount of time people listen to the breakfast show is the highest for three years". Chris was thrashed by Capital FM's Johnny Vaughan in the London ratings, although Vaughan lost almost a quarter of a million listeners from previous host Chris Tarrant.
As a whole, Radio 1's audience declined once again to 9.72m, around 10,000 listeners down on the previous results. But in a boost for the station's controller, Andy Parfitt, its overall reach grew around 10% to 8.3%. Zane Lowe's show added an extra 200,000 listeners and Colin & Edith put on 64,000 to Mark and Lard's old lunchtime slot.
