When Chris played the first song (Kosheen), it jumped a lot so he tried using a different machine and he ironically said that he was ‘The UK’s No.1 DJ’. He found out that the disc was the problem as Lizzie had recorded it on a dodgy machine. So he started again. On the intro to the song he throw the problem disc across the studio.
Kosheen/Catch
Sophie Ellis-Bextor/Take Me Home
Link 1: Introduced the vote for the live tracks to be played at the end of the show. It appeared obvious that Chris doesn’t like doing this as he used sarcasm saying that it ‘is so exciting’ and he sarcastically said that it would keep everyone listening.
Chris asked if he sounded weird and Comedy Dave agreed so then he tried to sort it out. Chris then said that he has sort the sound levels out everyday, which makes him look like an ‘amateur’. He then said that he wouldn’t blames radio 1’s cheap equipment that was only supposed to have been put in temporarily 5 years ago. Will then suggests ‘that would be a bad workmen blaming his tools’, Chris then admitted blaming the equipment by saying that ‘I am a great workmen blaming my tools’.
Chris then played the two tracks ridiculing the choice of usher’s live track saying ‘that he sound really live’ (sarcasm) and then commenting that it sound like just a record with cheering sounds effects in the background.
Chris finally moved saying what a morning he had. Then talks about his brother who is in hospital and then Will brings up hospital radio then Chris explains that his brother can get loads of radio stations on them and when he went into see him early he was listening to Mark & Lard which Chris jokes ‘like that is going to make him feel any better’. He went on to say that his brother hasn’t eaten, drunk or smoke therefore he commented that his brother was ‘losing wait by sitting on his fat arse’ whilst he has to go out training everyday.
Chris then said that the team was having Christmas drinks and he was paying and appealed for anyone that had been on the show to ring them. Chris then says because Lizzie is planning to get drunk that he will just drink orange juice, as he doesn’t need to drink alcohol to have a good time (but I bet he didn’t though).
Pharoe Monche –
Link 2: Chris mentions that the team don’t speak when their headphones are turned. Chris says that it’s going to be a good show because when he’s in a bad mood the show is always worth listening to. Mentions that Will has a game to do later on and will says that it is a guessing game. Chris tries to guess what the game is and he suggests spot the lesbian and touch the lesbian. Will says that it doesn’t have anything to do with lesbian and refuses to tell Chris what it is
Chris then talked about Lizzie getting him a muffin to have with his tea because he was in a mood (he’s must be really – second reference to it.) Chris reveals that they stopped doing the advent calendar feature as Will spilt his tea all over it so some of the doors are open and its all soggy. Then Chris went on to do the teas league top 5, who’s bought the most rounds of tea before the show (which was boring and was just used for Chris to fill the link). In case you were interested it was in 5th place Jon Culshaw with one round, Chris made a joke of that’s all he’s bought the same number of rounds in the pub for the last 3.5 years. In 4th place Will with two rounds, 3rd place Dave (4 rounds), 2nd place Lizzie with 5 and fifth rounds (???), 1st of course Chris who’s bought 5 and a half rounds for the team.
Jennifer Lopez – Play
Link 3: The record jumped so Chris who doesn’t like this song anywhere screams over the end and comments that people at radio 1 need a good spanking and then adds that it would make a good feature. Will says that was what the R1 party was for, Chris says that should he mention the names of the two people who didn’t make it into work the following day. Will says no.
Chemical Brothers – Star guitar
The news isn’t ready so Chris takes the pi*s out of the newsreaders and says that there is a conspiracy theory going on with the person who presses the buttons. He explains that he thinks that whenever he’s off he changes the button configurations on the desk so nobody knows how to use it and that keeps him in a job.
NEWS
Complements Carolyn (the newsreader) by calling her the ultimate professional for reading the news well after the panic they were having up there and Chris then says that she is worth every penny of the twelve and half grand that the BBC pay here. Jokingly Chris invites her to come and read news in the studio to get away from someone called Adrian who’s producing the news.
Starsailor – Lullaby
Iio- Rapture
Comedy reckons that the lead singer of Starsailor sounds like Cartmen from South Park, Chris then does his impression of him singing.
Chris takes some phone calls, the first one comments on how he’s just heard the trailer for the new alternative radio station and says that means that R1 will stop playing crap like the so solid crew. Chris says that he loves all the music on R1 (which he obviously has to say) and then says that he has to point out that the views aren’t his or teams views. The second caller is a teenage girl and Chris cuts her off for shouting down the phone.
On the intro of Macy gray Chris says how he feels like he his working in Boots and he’s got the Christmas tape on.
Macy Gray – Winter Wonderland
In this link the do a game that Will has put together uses the blind date music as bed. Starts by looking at the sun newspaper and explains that they have to spot his ex featured in the paper somewhere. It turns out to be someone dressed up as Kylie called Hannah Carter. Chris talks about the vote thing again and starts to explain about the bed that he’s playing on the feature. He explains about the Microsoft new e-mail sound that’s accidental on it and says that he was in the pub with the bloke who made it and says that the guy was glad he pointed it out as he thought he was really popular and getting e-mails every 20 mins and it was driving him really mad. Chris then explained how he happened: saying the guy has his pc-linked upto a mixing desk and when he was recording this bed he got new e-mail.
