Aled was not on the show today and won’t be for two weeks as he is off on holiday. Chris said he didn’t even want to discuss it. (He wanted Aled to take his holiday last month when he was away as well but Aled said he had to stay at work because of Fame Academy). The one and only Roy Walker from Catchphrase was in Radio 1 earlier today. He met Dave and Rachel but missed Chris by about 20 minutes. He did record a message thanking him for the support he’s given regarding trying to get Roy back on Catchphrase. Roy congratulated Chris on getting the breakfast gig and said he’s sure they will meet soon and go out for a drink. Dave said they couldn’t say why Roy was in today but we’ll find out in a few weeks time. I get the feeling (a bit of a MC prediction for you here kids) that there may be a new feature coming to the show called Car park Catchphrase. It was originally Will’s idea and they played it on the air once a few months back. It was basically an audio version of Catchphrase with Chris reading out clues for phrases with two callers in car parks on the line playing against each other. Roy may have been in in recording bits and bobs for Chris to play out - ‘It’s good but it’s not right’ etc. But then again I'm usually wrong so watch this space.
Chris saw Holly Valance in Radio 1 earlier. She had been a surprise guest for Chappers on the breakfast show as it’s his birthday tomorrow. Chris said he was listening - doing his research. Chris was wearing Pat Sharp’s old headphones as his are bust. Chris says Time Is Running Out by Muse is really growing on him now. He’s
been playing it for long enough anyway. Paddy O’Connell from Celebdaq was on from the showbiz closet in TV centre where the clock said 20 past ten, the chair was squeaky and the door made the sound of a goat, which amused Dave. Paddy said Chris had got more column inches than Justin, Britney and Kylie this week - but was behind Coxy. Chris said that was his dream. Paddy advised Chris on who to pump and dump this week. He said buy Britney and Kylie and said ‘although my knowledge of football starts and ends with groin injuries’ he should buy Sven as well. Chris wasn’t best pleased when Paddy said he was old news so he should sell all his shares in himself, but was even less pleased when he found out Spoony is a guest on Celebdaq on BBC 3 tonight. Chris’s portfolio now consists of shares in Beckham, Rooney, David Blaine, Sven Goran Eriksson and Comedy Dave.
Chris gave away the ‘best boob of the year’ award that Producer Rachel nicked from the Loaded LAFTAS the other night. It was won by Lee Ryan from Blue. Chris said they’d give it away but needed something in return. The texts and e-mails came in and suggestions included a vinyl copy of Blue by Eiffel 65, an oak wooden wardrobe, a script from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, a Leeds Utd season ticket, 5 Crayola paint brushes, a Chinese & a bag of Walkers, Roque Junior, a 1989 Volvo with a dodgy clutch and a Nissan Sunny. Chris said the Sunny won (Matt in Cumbria’s suggestion) but he didn’t hold out much hope for it arriving as he broke the award live on the air. He said he was testing it’s durability and on only it’s second drop it smashed apart. Dave sounded genuinely disappointed and Rachel got some sellotape and tried to fix it together, but to no avail. Dave suggested putting all the pieces in the post and sending them to Lee Ryan anyway. Chris played the new Girls Aloud single again. Dave sung along half heartedly and Chris said Dave could replace one of the members of Girls Aloud. He then said ‘Actually, thinking about it I think that’s as far as I’ll go with this link’.
Someone called Gary McAllister (not the real one) e-mailed in from Chicago to say he was spreading the word of Moyles across the states. Chris said before he leaves the afternoon show he’ll do something especially for his US listeners as he’ll be on around midnight instead of early mornings there nest year. Chris watched the England U20 match last night on Sky. David Garido was in Istanbul doing the sports news and Chris could hear someone on a microphone in the background. He asked if it was the Turkish Chris Moyles. Garido said no as he’s not that fat. Chris said he’s gonna get it when he comes back. I bet he’s quaking in his boots.
Chris suddenly got fascinated with Americans and wanted them to give them addresses for their webcams so they can view them in all their glory. Chris played a clip of Jo Whiley sniggering after she said Scott Mills refused to come in his pants. Chris wished that he hadnt asked for webcams because all her got was fat hairy arsed men. Welcome to the real world Chris. The man he was watching is drinking tea and has microphone like Madonna or the drive thru in McDonalds people have. Chris gave the link to Georgina. Dave laughed at the state of him. Chris said that its better than watching The Salon.
Jonathan Pearce joined the team after 3 weeks off. He has a new arrival in the household, its a baby girl. She is very quiet. Pearce said that Rio-Gate should have happened a fortnight ago. He said that noone has come outof it with any credit. Dave was worried about Wayne Rooneys current petulence and that he might get sent off if hes not too careful. Pearce wanted to know if he was going to still be on the show when Chris shifts to breakfast. Pearce said that England will win 2-1, Scotland to beat Lithuania, Wales to go to the play offs and Ireland to go via the play offs. Scottish fan Euan emailed in hating England.
