Dave abandoned his plan to go running yesterday and instead stayed at home watching Wish You Were Here and the DVD of the 95 Everton - Man U Cup Final (which was his wedding present from Chris). Chris talked to Juliette about the financial crisis at Elland Road again. There was a clip of ex-Leeds deputy chairman Allan Leighton in the news saying spending all the money they did was really a good plan at the time. Chris went off on a big rant, saying that was just a cop-out and if that’s what Allan Leighton really thinks, then he should get out of the game. Monday could be the day that dirty Leeds finally go into administration and Chris was abusing his position to the max to try and help raise sufficient last-minute funds. Greyhead voiced a “give blood” style advert, urging those who knew any sheikhs, texan oil barons or russian billionaires to get in touch via the text. Dave didn’t think that the offers coming in of £1.37, £3.50 and 14p plus a satsuma would help Leeds out of their £80 million debt though. The breakfast team football this weekend consists of Leeds at Southampton, Everton at home to Charlton, Port Vale v Grimsby, Kiddy Harriers v Darlington and the biggest of them all - Rhyl v Aberystwyth. Chris, Aled, Juliette and Dave talked about the (almost) legendary Sun Centre in Rhyl and in particular, the wavepool. Chris described how he used to rush to the pool in quite alarming detail. He said “I used to absolutely love it when I went about 12 months ago”. Aled is going back to Wales for the weekend, Rachel is going to try out the Jade Goody dance video and Dom and his wife (who hates Chris’s guts) are going out to the pub tonight, making her parents trek over an hour to come and babysit little Finton Bryne.

Matt Lucas and David Walliams successfully completed their This Morning word challenge yesterday, after Philip Schofield handed them a cabbage at the start of the interview. Philip was live on the show at about 7.50 and Chris asked if it was Philip who heard that challenge being set yesterday - or one of the show researchers. It was one of the researchers and Philip said he was writing a script in the car at that time and that’s why he wasn’t listening. Dave said “We don’t usually have a script on this show...although that’s pretty self-evident”. Rachel, Aled and Chris all admitted to writing to Philip when he was on kids tele and all got signed photos back. Chris told Philip to come on the show soon but he is usually in work for 8 so it doesn’t sound too likely.
Dave - Give our regards to Fern
Chris - Is she in today?
Philip - yes she’s in
Chris - She’s a bit like Evans like isn’t she? She likes the odd Friday off when she’s got a long weekend trip to the Lake District booked doesn’t she?..
(Philip + Dave laugh)

MR MEN TOP TEN:
Following Dominic’s mispronunciation of Mystikal in the news, the conversation turned somehow to the Mr Men. Chris recommended Dom go and buy all the Mr Men episodes on the DVD that’s out, without admitting he’s already bought it himself. Dom’s favourite Mr Man was Mr Small, Juliette’s was Mr Jelly and Chris and Dave’s was Mr Bump. Following the link Chris decided to start a favourite Mr Men text vote (it seems things have got this desperate already) and the whole team compiled a shortlist of ten for the listeners to choose from on 81199. Dave said he could smell a Sony but Chris said this type of thing really does divide the nation. Chris left the poll open for about an hour and it shockingly got a response of over 15,000 texts, proving once again that Chris is the king of the crappy text polls. Personally I thought Mr Strong was robbed but here is the top ten anyway:
10 MR FUNNY
9 MR TALL
8 MR SMALL
7 MR NOISY
6 MR GREEDY
5 MR JELLY
4 MR HAPPY
3 MR STRONG
2 MR BUMP
1 MR TICKLE
Chris said that Mr Men was partially ruined for him by the creation of the Little Misses. He said there was no need to change it, just like pacman to pacwoman. Dave said the only time “pacwoman” should be said is before you go on holiday. Dave said he only did it to annoy Rachel and it worked a treat. Chris said he bet that it was true and Emma really does pack for him when they go on holiday. Dave didn’t bother to deny it of course and Chris said the last time Dave actually bought a piece of clothing by himself was 1988.

Chris had delved back into the 80’s fudge tunnel for today’s Buzz Off track from Tears for Fears. Rachel was a bit worried by the extent of Chris’s knowledge of the track - when the drums, verses came in etc. After Chris hit the vocal, Dave said he bet he hadn’t hit the vocal on a Tears For Fears track for a while. Chris said not since he did his demo for Heart before Christmas. There must have been a problem with the text messaging system as somehow 4 minutes were played, with only 8 seconds left when it was buzzed off. Chris played a trail for OneLife voiced by Emma B. Her baby girl is called Edie (pronounced Eeedie) but at first Chris thought it was a boy called Eddie...Dave said obviously named after Eddie Van Halen. Today was Day 5 of The Chris Moyles Fitness Campaign and the final exercise was The Pizza Call, starring fantastic acting again by Chris, Dave, Rachel and Juliette. (Click to download). The “Wake Up With Moyles, Go Home With Cox” campaign is in full flow with the big Radio 1 suits thinking up another masterplan to keep listeners tuned in both in the morning and in the afternoon. There will be a big competition next week involving both shows and Chris supposedly had a big announcement to make today. It turns out the only announcement was there would be an announcement next week, if that makes any sense. Coxy had more details this afternoon but I wasn’t listening so I dunno what they were. At 8.15 on Tuesday Chris will reveal all (so to speak). We do know the competition involves “a musical band and them being live”. Chris talked about Coxy being pregnant and wondered whether she will end up looking like him towards the end of the pregnancy. Dave said that would definitely be the end of her modelling career. When Coxy takes maternity leave either Colin and Edith or Scott Mills will get her slot and their weekend shifts will be filled as a result by Radio 1’s new signings JK and Joel. They have presented the breakfast show on Key 103 up here in Manchester for the past 3 years and before Chris took over breakfast, I used to listen every day. It’s a good signing by Parf Daddy (story here) and seems to be coinciding with a slight change of music policy. Chris has played non-playlist tunes from OPM, Todd Terry, Barenaked Ladies, Moloko and now Touch & Go on the show over the past 2 weeks (all not that old but certainly a change from the normal non-stop playlist tunes). Chris and Dave talked about the legendary Comedy Dave Touch & Go parody they did. Click on the link to visit the lyrics page, where it is available to download.

CARPARK CATCHPHRASE:
AJ (female) a secretary in a sexual health clinic in Exeter 2
KINSY (Philip-Lee - Kinsy is his surname) in Carmarthen 1 (did a crackin Andy from Little Britain impression, Chris said they would send him the Little Britain audio CD as a consolation prize)

Daves Tedious Link
Blur Parklife - Blur frontman Damon Albarn is from Colchester who knocked Accrington out of the cup to set up a fourth round tie with Coventry - Coventry was heavily bombed during the war - what is it good for, absolutely nothing - Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now was a big hit in 1987 for Starship who used to be known as Jefferson Starship and before that were known as Jeffers and Airplane - Jeffers and Airplanes track Somebody To Love is currently sampled on the latest offering from Boogie Pimps - Pimps hang out with hookers - Hookers talk to you through your car window and in that respect share something in common with serving staff at drive-thru fast food outlets - Drive-thru fast food outlets were invented by the americans which is why so many of them are fat - Fat Friends is currently running on ITV the same channel that employs our good friend Philip Schofield - Philip Schofield used to work with a partner called Gordon - Gordon Kaye is the actor who played Renee in 'Allo 'Allo - 'Allo 'Allo is what the french say when receiving a phone call - Call Me was a big hit for Go West - West rhymes with vest and if you wear a vest in a hot room in the middle of the summer in Africa it’s gonna make you sweat - which links us to C & C Music Factory and Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)
