Not an awful lot to write about today in truth. I know that’s very unlike me and I have still managed to churn out three or so thousand words for you...but the show just felt a bit flat and empty for some reason. The main talking point of the day I suppose was the V Festival, which took place in Staffordshire and Chelmsford over the weekend. Chris and Producer Rachel both went to the latter - Rach on Saturday and Moyles on Sunday. They didn’t actually see that many acts play live though, as both preferred to spend their day drinking in a tent...or as Chris liked to call it “absorbing the live music atmosphere”. Chris said Rach was drinking with the enemy though - cos she was in the Virgin Radio tent. Don’t worry though all you Rachel fans, she wasn’t putting the final touches to a lucrative transfer over to 1215AM. In fact she was just in there cos it was the only tent with free booze. It seems she's taken up the Juliette role while she's away in Greece. The acts Rach did find time to see were Keane, Faithless, The Killers, Dido, Muse and Embrace, while Chris and Sophie only caught performances from Badly Drawn Boy, The Thrills, Scissor Sisters and N*E*R*D (although they did hear Jamie Cullum and Snow Patrol if that counts). Chris said The Thrills were his highlight of the weekend - especially the big sing along to Santa Cruz. It has to be said his voice did seem a bit worse for wear at the start of the show. There was a generic hello to everyone Moyles promised a mention to over the weekend (it saves time y’see), a hello to all the people dressed as robots, kangaroos and flowers yesterday - and also a hello to the frizzy haired ginger woman who plays Tracy in EastEnders, as Sophie spotted her as a cracking Guess Who. If you’re wondering who she is btw, she’s the woman who occasionally turns up in the background on the market - and also behind the bar in the Queen Vic. Means nowt to me as I don’t watch EastEnders, and we can’t even give you her real name to help either...cos to be brutally honest we don’t have a feck who she is. Other Guess Who’s from the weekend included Daniel from Big Brother (Chris) and Abi Titmuss (Rachel). Away from the V Festival Dave bumped into the teams actress friend Nicola Stephenson, and Dom saw Ewan McIntosh getting off the tube (aka fat Keith from The Office). Today I get to join in the fun as this afternoon I saw Michael Gray of Blackburn Rovers on Market Street in Manchester. I know, get me and my D List spottings. With Glastonbury, T In The Park and V out of the way, next weekend sees the closure of the festival season - at Reading and Leeds. Now for a many a year Radio One have always come live from Reading, but this year management have stuck that boat out and agreed to let the station go up to Leeds for the weekend. This includes Chris and the team then, who will be live from Leeds on Friday morning. Note: not on the following Monday though as there’s no show - it’s Bank Holiday. Chris ran through the Leeds line up and said he can’t wait to see Morrissey live for the first time on Sunday. Dom said he’s quite looking forward to checkin’ out friend of the show Fiddy Cent actually...no diggity. Tickets to both festivals are being given away across the week on Radio One, but unfortunately by way of your old text book cue to call competition. That cue to call being a past festival track from one of the weekends forthcoming performers. Very clever. Today it was Green Day and the brilliant Time Of Your Life (Good Riddance) from T In The Park 2 years ago. The winner of a pair of tickets to Reading was Dan Coppenhall from London, there’ll be more to give away tomorrow. Regarding the big weekend up at the Leeds festival, Dave wanted to know if the team had buggy arrangements sorted out. Rach and Chris spurned the opportunity to take advantage of their buggy access this past weekend, but Dave was altogether more keener. He said he wants a hard top one too, just in case of any rain. Rach told him that it’s much more fun to exercise and walk through the mud.
Dave - But I’ve never had a buggy before!!!
(Rach laughs)
Chris - If you’ve just switched on...don’t ask
(Rach laughs)

Image
The team are travelling up to Leeds after Thursday’s show - and there’ll be a unique opportunity for us the punters to meet them the stars later that day...at The Chris Moyles Show Team Book Signing. Or to give it it’s full snappy title - The Chris Moyles Show Team *We haven’t written a book so bring your own* Book Signing. Yep that’s right, basically bring along your own book and get it signed by either Chris, Dave, Rach, Dom or Aled. Simple. They’ll be at Leeds Metropolitan University between 5:30 and 6:30pm this Thursday (i.e Thursday 27th August). Dave said such is demand, the council are having to decide whether or not to close the whole city centre down that afternoon. Tis understandable. If you actually get off your arse and bother to go down there, please note that the book signing will stop at bang on 6:30. In other words, the team won’t be hanging around to sign books for all the stragglers at the back of the queue...so be early. Here are some of the other rules too:

- The team reserve the right to refuse to sign anything for anybody they don't like the look of
- Signings must last no longer than 15 seconds per person*

KEY:>>>
*Extra time for special people will only be granted at the team’s discretion

Clear? Good.

DVD STUFF, GLOBAL FREEZING, BUZZ OFF AND SECRET STUDENT:>>>
Image
(2 weeks and counting..)
Of the huge pile of DVD’s Chris bought late last week, he said he’s only seen a couple so far. But no not Kill Bill 2 or an episode of Series 3 of 24 - instead he opted for Rat On The Road and Shrek. Shrek the 10 minute 3D version with the glasses (I love going to see iMax films like that), and Rat On The Road - well that’s the 20th TVAM anniversary special DVD. Chris said it’s a bit poor but don’t get him wrong, he’s still a big fan of Roland Rat, Kevin The Gerbil and Errol The Hamster. Comedy Dave also watched a DVD last night - the promo copy of Definitely Maybe by Oasis. It’s the 10 year anniversary DVD due out 2 weeks today - featuring a documentary, plus live performances and videos for each song on the album. Chris and Dave also have extra out takes on their DVD versions and say the whole thing’s brilliant. Dave added "so far", as the batteries in his remote have packed up so he’s not seen it all yet. The weather was awful again in London (and most of the UK) today, and Chris has decided that something needs to be done. This is the middle of August after all. If this is what we’re getting now, what the hell’s it gonna be like in December? Moyles suggested that the people at NASA build massive fans to blow all the rain clouds away, as that must be possible if they can get a man on the moon. If not, he said we could always just burn that hole in the O Zone layer up quicker and speed up global warming till we at least get a bit of sunlight in. He said global warming isn’t our problem after all as we’ll all be dead when it kicks in anyway. It’ll be our grand kids and great grand kids that suffer, whereas we can just get a big tan.
Chris - Lets reap the benefits of this global problem
Rach said it was a nice cheery start to a Monday morning. Chris said seriously though, he wont know his grand kids, nor perhaps even meet his great grand kids so it’s not his problem, it’s theirs. Harsh but fair perhaps. Buzz Off was a bit of a loud one to kick start the week this morning. It was America: What Time Is Love by KLF, number 4 back in March 1992. Rach was the only one to buzz in during the actual song itself (on 1:27), whereas Dave and Aled waited till the end and the listeners voted 60% in favour of Buzz On.

After 9 o’clock there were more messages from potential Chris Moyles Show “Secret Students”, although there is no danger of the winner coming from this strange bunch:
*A “party girl” who loves to gossip (not a great quality to have as “secret” student).
*A slapper who started off by saying “hey everybody” and later “shake your booty”.
*An excited drama and theatre studies student who absolutely loves to say absolutely, and is also absolutely the“craziest cat you will ever meet”....absolutely.
*Some fat Welsh bird who did a sick line about the Titanic
*And Chris's favourite so far...a bloke who began his message by saying “Hi I’m a bloke”. Concise and straight to the point. He then added he’ll be joining all the clubs he can at uni - chess, cards whatever...as “you never know, you might meet some cool people”:
Chris - mmm, at chess club..
(Dave laughs)

DAVE TALKS ART AND JULIETTE’S STILL IN ATHENS:>>>
Image
Well it’s lasted a year, who’d have thought. And no I’m not talking about my reviews - I’m talking about Dave and Emma’s marriage. Today is their first wedding anniversary, and over the weekend they celebrated by doing “romantic stuff”, to quote Dave directly. They went to a posh restaurant for dinner (no not Curry In A Hurry), and then for a long walk along the South Bank, including a visit to The Tate Gallery.
Dave - It’s full of art!
Chris (laughs) - Well yeah..

Dave said he’s a big fan of modern art - he likes nothing better than strolling around art galleries and expanding his mind. His particular favourite yesterday was a bowl of fruit “similar to the traditional Dutch impressionism theme” (must have been on a sign or summat) - but filmed over weeks and sped up on a plasma screen, showing it all “decaying into a whole mass of putrid insect ridden pulp”. Lovely.
Chris - and that’s art is it?
Cue Chris moaning about what qualifies as art and doing a very strange analogy involving jaffa cakes and toothpaste. Dave said granted a lot of art is total rubbish, but as he learned yesterday - some of it can actually be quite clever.
Dave - and we were in there for about 15 minutes!!
Rach - Fifteen!!?? (her and Chris laugh)
Chris (laughing) - I spend longer in the Post Office

(Jules with gold medalist Ben Ainslie after his victory on Saturday)
Jules was back this morning with news from a fantastic British weekend at The Olympics, including her mate Beano Ben Ainslie taking Gold in the Sailing on Saturday. She said she saw him in a wet suit on Saturday afternoon, a tracksuit for the medal ceremony on Saturday night (above) and yesterday he was on her bed. Doing an interview for Radio Five Live of course *cough*. One thing that did surprise me today was the fact that Chris didn’t make any reference at all to Paula Radcliffe’s sad demise in the Womens Marathon yesterday afternoon. With her being a friend of the show and all I expected him to say something. He either didn’t A) Because it’s not his place and he doesn’t want to get involved (mind you it’s not stopped him before) or B) Any Olympics stuff he discusses has to be edited out of Listen Again so he just doesn’t discuss it at all (I very much doubt this - one that it would have been edited out, and two that he’d listen to orders from upstairs anyway).

TEAM FOOTY ROUND UP: WEEK 3>>>
ImageImageImageImage
Chris - Leeds drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest in The Coca Cola Championship
Dave - Everton won 3-1 at Crystal Palace in The Barclays Premiership
Dom - Liverpool beat City 2-1 at Anfield in The Barclays Premiership
Jules - Port Vale drew 1-1 at Wrexham in Coca Cola League 1
Rachel - Kidderminster lost 2-1 to Mansfield in Coca Cola League 2

CARPARK CATCHPHRASE:
IAN a sharp and portly chocolate sales rep from Lincoln 2
ROSS who fits double glazing in Bridport 1

**Quite a good CPC today - for 2 reasons:
1) Comedy Dave’s hilarious over the top cheer of “Yay!!” when Ian was being introduced
2)A very bizarre conversation at the end of the game involving ballpoint pens, fountain pens, compasses and pencil sharpeners. Best not to bother explaining.**

Daves Tedious Link
Black Box Ride On Time - A black box is another term for the flight recorder on an aeroplane - Aeroplane was a 1996 hit for The Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Red Hot Chili Peppers have a bass player called Flea - The plural of flea is fleas, which sometimes live on dogs - Dogs like to fetch sticks - Styx were an American band who were big in America around the same time as REO Speedwagon - Wagon Wheels are covered in chocolate - Chocolate melts when it gets hot and in that respect shares something in common with wax - Wax first name Ruby is an irritating female TV presenter, who has interviewed Pamela Andersen - Pamela Andersen shares the same surname as Clive Andersen - Clive Andersen supports Arsenal, who yesterday equalled the record 42 game unbeaten run set in 1978 by Nottingham Forest - Nottingham Forest drew 1-1 on Saturday with Leeds - Leeds is where we’ll be this coming weekend for the festival - and the last time I was at the Leeds Festival in 1998 it was headlined by The Verve - Which links us to The Verve and Bitter Sweet Symphony

FLAW
*The Verve headlined V98 in Leeds, not the Leeds Festival

QUOTE OF THE DAY:>>>>
Dom - There’s a stink of Sanyo wafting into the studio..
(Rach, Dave and Chris laugh)
