“Have you bought me a Christmas present yet?”

Starting off with one of the many brilliant Christmas jingles from this week:

“Santa Claus is ready, he’s packed up all his sleigh
With lots of lovely presents, he bought them cheap on ebay
Chris is dressed as Santa, Dave is sat upon his knee
And can you guess who’s left to be the fairy on the tree?
The Chris Moyles Show, National Radio One”

Today’s special guest was Shane Ritchie, can you say “yawn”?! It’s alright for you, you don’t have to review it! An argument kicked off between Chris and Rachel very early on, when Chris announced Shane would be “on the phone” when he meant to say “on the show”. Rachel picked up on it, but, as usual, instead of admitting he was wrong, he insisted he said it right. Chris said if anyone thinks Rachel has an irritating voice, text “Yes I do” to 81199. Rachel got a lot of support on the texts, all saying Rachel has a lovely voice, and that she was right, and that she’s lovely, etc. All read out by Rachel herself obviously. Chris could do nothing but his usual Rach impressions. I think for once, he knew he was wrong.

BUZZ OFF:
Today’s choice was between cool and cheesy. They first chose cheesy, then cool, then cheesy again. So Celebration by Kool And The Gang from 1980 eventually won beating Adam And The Ants. Rachel buzzed in first. Then Dom and Dave after the record had finished. 71% buzz on from the listeners, nothing like a little bit of a dance at 7.20am on a Friday morning!

CHRISTMAS JINGLE NUMBER 2 AT 7.30

“It’s Christmas time again, so enjoy your office party
you’ll drink too much, eat too much and the sprouts will make you farty
But here’s a word of warning if you plan to drink up day
And end up dancing on the tables with your baubles on display
The Chris Moyles Show, National Radio One”

FRIDAY FOOTIE COMP(or “Football Ticket Friday” as suggested by Rachel)
Chelsea V Norwich at Stamford Bridge was this week’s game. On Line 1 was Eric, from Dagenham. After some random crap about Woof and Bananaman, Eric’s story was nothing we haven’t heard before, he has a friend who hasn’t been well, problems with his bowels, and spent a lot of time in hospital, he’s a really good friend, and he would love to take him, etc… On Line 2, was Sarah, let’s get straight to it, it’s for her brother, who has a red birth mark(she used a more posh name than that, but we’re speaking English here!) He’s having it removed, so he’s always in and out of hospital, he’s a massive Chelsea fan so this would make his season. Sorry, but just typing that nearly sent me to sleep, I hope they ditch this feature in the new year, it’s getting very dull now! Anyway, Eric won, if anyone cares, let’s hope his mate doesn’t spend half the game on the toilet.

There’s one thing Chris would really like for Christmas this year, and that is Vernon Kay. He’d like him to burst in to the studio and go “Merry Christmas big boy I’m yours!” That would never happen! Cue Vernon! He came in, said hello to John Terry and Frank Lampard, Dave said he just likes to watch them do the breakfast show, although Chris said he’ll never get it himself! Vernon came in at a really exciting time, just as they were about to open up another door on the advent calendar! Today it was Paul Daniels and Debbie McGee. I hope nobody’s forgotten Shane Richie is on the show later…

At 8.15 it was time, sadly, for Shane Richie to arrive and spoil the show, which, until now, was going well. Apparently he has a recurring dream where he’s gonna be on Chris’ show, but Chris never turns up so he has to present it himself, he’s getting ideas above his station there! The conversation somehow got on to homosexuals, Brad Pitt and George Clooney were mentioned and even Prince Charles, although Chris and Shane were certain they were both 100% heterosexual. Other subjects mentioned were, Alfie Moon getting tougher, Chris Evans, Moyles’ TV show, which Chris calls his “Run the Risk” years.

Questions from Shane Richie fans, both of them, came in at 8.45. First one was from Nia, an English teacher, asking if he was planning on staying with his girlfriend for a while, because she was waiting for him, sadly he’s happy with his bird. Next one was from Michelle, who wanted to know if they sold alcohol in the Queen Vic, he said it was just tea, which Aled said was mouldy! There were a few more questions, including one asking where Alfie gets his shirts from, and how he’d rate himself in bed, which Chris attempted to answer! Sadly, Shane had to go after this, so the show was back on form after that!

Half Time: The bit where Dave says:

LETS GET READY TO RAMBLE!!!!!
Unfortunately, Shane still hadn’t gone by this point and hung around like a bad smell for half time. Chris told Shane he was a writer, and if he could name the first line of any recent song. Shane came up with a few, which Chris was able to find, with a little help from Mr Computer! Chris came up with a really tough one for Shane, what’s the first line of Wham’s I’m Your Man? God that brought back painful memories! I kept waiting for Rachel, not to open the lines for Carpark Catchphrase, but to tell Shane Richie to buggar off!

Yesterday Dom was supposed to interview Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. Dom has very few memories of the interview, since it never happened. It was cancelled as there was a fire in the hotel, which is a good enough reason I suppose! Chris said people will do anything to get out of being interviewed by Dominic these days, it’s a shame really as we haven’t heard one of Dom’s genius interviews for a while, I’m hoping it was just postponed and not cancelled, so we may hear it next week, there are plenty of other hotels in London!

On Line 1, it’s contestant number one:
James, an electrician, from Leicester: 0

On Line 2, it’s celebrity contestant number two:
Shane Richie, an actor, from somewhere in London: 2

Today’s show started off well, but Shane Richie spoilt it for me, him turning up in Carpark Catchphrase on top of everything else was just unneccessary! Anyway, have a good week, and I’ll see you on Christmas Eve!

John Terry and Frank Lampard impressions
Shane approved of Chris and Dave on Travis’ christmas track
