The most random of starts today, firstly with Aled’s legendary version of Is This The Way To Amarillo? Followed by random clips of some woman from the In New Music We Trust ad, and then the “Jeff man, Dave man, Chris man, Rach man…” song we haven’t heard for a while. They’ve even updated it to include Carrie’s name! Following this was a “good morning” from Chris. Also, great to hear a Killers song that isn’t Somebody Told Me, we’re only 2 minutes in, and in my state of being half awake/half asleep at this point, I’m already thinking “this week’s review will be a lot more fun to do than last week’s!” If you’re in stitches laughing by the 7.00 news, you know you’re in for a good show.
Chris is in the paper today, the Star. From when he went out with ex Radio 1 DJ Wes the other night, as Chris mentioned in his review yesterday, the press were waiting outside the pub(for somebody else), then they see Chris and start snapping. Wes, who was leathered, plastered, drunk, pissed, out of it, which ever word you wanna use, jumped all over Chris, licking his face. Sounds like a good picture, I haven’t seen it yet, it’s on Page 31 of the Star, Friday.
ST PATRICK’S DAY…THE MORNING AFTER
Carrie didn’t do anything last night, Dominic had Guiness…several. Dave stayed in and watched the Middlesborough game. Rachel’s Irish friend Siobhan came round to see her. Chris couldn’t believe they all stayed in last night! He went to Dublin yesterday…no he didn’t really. He went to go and see Shane McGowan and Pete Doherty in a tiny little gig, what fun that’d be with the pair of ‘em trying to out do each other with being out of it! Incidentally, while Chris was out at this really cool concert, Jo Whiley was at an 80s Nik Kershaw/Howard Jones reunion…
RANDOM QUOTE NUMBER 1:
“I can’t believe I wasted all of this link talking about how phwoarr you are Carrie because you’re not really that good”
Chris, obviously.
FRIDAY FOOTIE COMP: Liverpool V Everton
Dave isn’t too confident, he thinks it’ll be 0-0. Dom thinks Liverpool will storm it 2-1. Carrie agrees, Rachel thinks 2-0 to Liverpool, and just for Dave, Chris thinks 5-0 to Everton. Incidentally though, you may remember Dave and Dom’s bet at the beginning of the season about which team would finish higher, Dom’s starting to go off the idea of the bet now, too late for that! Anyway, going to the game was Neil, from Liverpool, his predictions are 2-1 to Liverpool, both by Steven Gerrard, Dave doesn’t agree, naturally! I’m a blue in Manchester so I’m more Everton than Liverpool, so come on you Toffees!
RANDOM QUOTE NUMBER 2:
“It’s 7.47, just like the plane! Oh, too late it’s 7.48 now.”
I did say random.
Time for a new song, performed by Chris, in tribute to Dave, who now has the lurgy, thanks to Joce:
“Dave’s got the lurgy, Dave’s got the lurgy
What’s that smell? It’s a Dave smell, lurgy
Dave’s got the lurgy, he has got the lurgy
Don’t go near him, he’ll give you the lurgy
Smell that lurgy smell, it’s on Dave
Coz Dave’s got the lurgy, Dave’s got the lurgy, oww!!
Sniff it now, it’s the lurgy sniff
Dave’s got it, it’s the lurgy Dave”
There’s gotta be a jingle in there somewhere!
TONY CHRISTIE ON THE PHONE:
Yep, believe it or not, the man behind the original version of Is This The Way To Amarillo? Recently made famous by some fat guy from Bolton, was live on the phone at 8.15! The single is selling like hot cakes, and is most likely to get to number 1 on Sunday. Thank god, we haven’t had a decent number 1 in this country for bloody ages! Tony wanted to hear Aled’s version of Amarillo(seriously) so Chris offered to send him Aled’s own version of the song, Is The Way To Aberstywth. But, as for the real song, checkout the Official Chart with the Chuckle Brothers on Sunday at 4pm, to hear it get to number 1, 17 places higher than it’s original chart position back in 1971.
CHRIS AND DAVE’S FOOTIE PREDICTIONS:

Chris: Home Win, Dave: Home Win, Garth: Home Win
TEDIOUS LINK PROBLEMS:
Not in the link itself, but with Dave’s choice of song. It was a little bit technical but for some reason they couldn’t get the song on the computer. Chris and Dave had to fill for a few minutes after the pips while they found another song, it was originally supposed to be Missy Elliot/Ludacris and Gossip Folks, but annoyingly, they had every other Missy Elliot song bar that one. So after Dave trying to fill by talking about the track, they found 4 My People, and played that instead. They might as well have just played nothing! Chris blamed Aled for this mess, just because everything is his fault.
“Hi Comedy Dave, this is David Moyes from Everton, that tedious link was crap!”
CARPARK CATCHPHRASE:
Chris: I haven’t got much time to talk today.
Roy: Oh.
I just thought that was funny.
On Line 1, it’s contestant number one:
Craig, a BT phone book consultant in Birmingham: 0
On Line 2, it’s contestant number two:
Laura, a student, from Newcastle: 2
Well I cannot even begin to say how great today’s show was in comparison with last Friday! They’ve all been back on form this week. Charity is great, and hats off to Chris and the team for all they did for Comic Relief, but it doesn’t make great radio.
ALSO ON TODAY’S SHOW:
Dom is back today(Jack was rubbish yesterday apparently)
Rachel is in a grump this morning(despite finally getting her new sofa)
Chris staring at Carrie’s chest after the 7.30 news
Guess Who’s from Dave and Aled...Nicky Clarke and Jeremy Clarkson
