Firstly, let me apologise now if this review turns out to be crap, I’m getting a lot of distraction with all the noise that’s going on outside! I’m not a big fan of Bonfire Night!

Chris, Dave, Rachel and Aled were back in what seems to have become something of a new home for the show recently…Chris’ home town, Leeds. The show is never as good when they’re in Leeds, I can never quite work out how it makes a difference, but I’d still prefer them in London!

Of course the reason for their Leeds visit this week, was last night they were switching on the christmas lights, on 4th November. I swear Christmas gets earlier every year! I haven’t even thought about Easter yet! Anyway, more on that later…

Chris must be giving his Rachel impressions a rest for today, as at the beginning of the show he had a sound effect to do the job for him. It was supposed to be a squeal, Rachel said it was a cat, Chris said if your cat sounds like that, you’re in big trouble! Anyway, it was very funny, and he played it throughout the show.

BUZZ OFF:
Today it was Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” from 1988. Personally I’ve always found this record a bit dull. Probably made worse by the awful dance remix released a few years ago. Dave buzzed first, then Rachel, then Aled after the record had finished, with the most Welsh “Aled Buzz” ever. 80% buzz on from the listeners. Aled says he loves a bit of Friday cheese.

As a bit of a random thing, one of my favourite jingles after 7.30 news:

“Good morning to you people, we’re here to sing for you
‘Cos we are Chris singers, that’s what we love to do
If it was a late night, go grab your coffee cup
And if you drank too much we hope you’re not chucking up
The Chris Moyles Show, National Radio One”

FRIDAY FOOTIE COMP:
This week’s game was Newcastle V Fulham at St James’ Park on Sunday. Although my attention will be more on a certain Manchester derby taking place that day, come on you blues! Tickets were for the Newcastle end. On Line 1, it was contestant number one, Paul, a lorry driver, the most Geordie bloke ever! A big Magpies fan since he was knee high to a grass-hopper. If he wins, he’ll take his son to the game, Zack, who has been a desperate to go to a game since last season. On Line 2, it was contestant number two, Leo, from Hemel Hempstead(He has family who live in Whitley Bay y’see!) He’ll take his Dad if he wins, Clive, who has only ever been to St James’ Park once before, he was only 17, which surprised me, he sounded at least 30! Anyway, the winner was…Paul! With 73% of the votes. Leo didn’t sound too happy. Dom offered him a guide to a long roundabout in Hemel Hempstead, he’d prefer the tickets. Chris offered him some Leeds Utd tickets, he said yes, at that point, he started cracking up…

THE FOOTBALL RESULTS ACCORDING TO CHRIS AND DAVE

It’s the time of the week again, after the success of last week(despite Chris only getting one out of seven right!), top footie experts Chris and Dave were back to give their predictions for tomorrow’s games. Here’s how it went:

Aston Villa V Portsmouth
Chris: Home Win, Dave: Draw

Chelsea V Everton
Chris: Draw, Dave: Draw

Liverpool V Birmingham
Chris: Home Win, Dave: Home Win

Norwich V Blackburn
Chris: Draw, Dave: Away Win

Southampton V West Brom
Chris: Home Win, Dave: Away Win

Tottenham V Charlton
Chris: Home Win, Dave: Well who cares what Dave thinks?(Think they ran out of time for the news!)

As you may know, Chris, Dave, Rachel and Aled were at Leeds last night, to switch on the Christmas lights, in front of 12,000 people. Comedy Dave introduced the rest of the team on to the stage, here’s what he said:

“Ladies and Gentleman, please put your hands together, he’s Welsh, but he’s a friend of mine, his name is Aled!”

Aled said this was “bordering on racist” Dave disagreed. Dave said he didn’t think, when he said that, it would be broadcast on national radio, the team found it very funny.

“She shares the same surname as him, she’s from Kidderminster, she’s a girl but technically she’s in charge of our programme, her name is Rachel Jones! Please give it up for Rachel!”

Now it’s time to bring Chris out. Careful on this one Dave:
“It’s not just us three, there’s somebody else involved, somebody who puts his name to the programme, he’s a local lad, he’s from Leeds, he’s a bit shy, he’s a bit nervous about coming out, so please make him feel very very welcome, on his return to his home city, please put your hands together for Mr Chris Moyles!”

And that was it. Aled sent Chris a text in the early hours of this morning, as he’d got back to his hotel room. “I have stalkers, there was a note under my door from three girls and a mobile number saying they’d been waiting for me in the bar, where was I? Typical!” According to Aled, the note was written as though it was from someone he knew, so he did the obvious thing, and rang the number. The girl said she loved him, thank god he had his number withheld!

Chris: I had girls banging on my hotel room door ‘till 5 o’clock this morning! Eventually I had to get out of bed and let them out!”

To be honest, I could see that line coming.

Girls Aloud were live in the studio at 8.45 this morning. Personally I find them a bit dull, so this wasn’t the best interview for me. Incase you didn’t know, the girls were at the light switch on last night, although unfortunately for Chris, none of them wanted to get drunk and go home with him. Chris played their song for Children In Need, Stand By You, originally done by The Pretenders I believe. Children In Need songs are quite often covers, and it’s a good cause and that, but I still haven’t quite forgiven them for murdering Stay Another Day on their B side to Sound Of The Underground. Anyway, this was a little bit better, and I can’t complain too much if it goes to number one, as it is for charity. Chris thought Nicola hated him, but they soon kissed and made up. Not literally though, sadly for Chris. Chris said he forgets that Girls Aloud were actually made on a reality TV show, I have to agree with him. As the aim seems to be, form a band, and then split up six months later. So, in that sense, One True Voice certainly did win. “Don’t feel guilty cos they were crap!” As Chris correctly put it. Nicola said the music wasn’t just bad, but they were * as well! Look where that got them!

Half Time: The bit where Dave says:

LETS GET READY TO RAMBLE!!!

Chris’ mate Longman was in today, they both asked Kimberly if she was single. I don’t think she quite knew herself to be honest. She wasn’t sure which one of them was asking. Nicola wasn’t single to both of them. Sarah was, however. That surprises me! The reputation she has! Chris noticed the top Cheryl was wearing this morning. It was lovely apparently. That was why she bought it, clever eh? Chris offered to take Cheryl to the Newcastle game on Sunday, with the tickets he’s already given away this morning. She asked him who he supported, I get the feeling they’re not regular listeners to the show! Chris pointed out, him and the girls have something in common this month, they both have a poster in Top Of The Pops magazine! He offered to sign a copy for them. Not much else exciting going on at half time today. Cue Rachel…

CARPARK CATCHPHRASE:

On Line 1, it’s contestant number one:

Anthony, who works for a car hire company. The team were taking the piss out of his voice, Dominic especially, hilarious!

On Line 2, it’s contestant number two:

Paula, from Bolton. Like our Vernon of course! She’s a student, so don’t quite know what she’s doing up at this time of the morning!

FINAL SCORE:
Anthony: 2
Paula: 1

Not an overly brilliant show today, probably due to the fact that I have no interest in Girls Aloud whatsoever, and they took up the last hour, which is usually the best. Anyway, I’ll be back next Friday!

ALSO ON TODAY’S SHOW:
Carrie explaining the Adrian Mutu story to Chris
Carrie had a bagel stuck in her throat during 7.30 Sports bulletin
Something to do with Christina and Missy’s song(I wasn’t paying attention!)
Dominic annoying Rachel
More Girls Aloud flirting
