8 million listeners

Is JUST the Chris Moyles Show. Radio 1 has closer to 12 million.

Just thought it deserved a repeat.......

I really wanted one of those last year (even if they were only 6 months!). If you do them again can you post them as i know your never gonna come to my city. :( I would happily pay the postage for one of those amazing calendars.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Aled. I don't know in what way you possibly could include the listeners to ask them for input over the playlist. I suppose if you were going to do it, it'll have never been as easy and accessible with the internet etc. but as you said, it would be very easy to abuse the choice. I know that people are put in place to make decisions over content, and the playlist overall is always good and balanced. I was just wondering out of curiosity not criticism.

And I too would love a calendar again. :D

I got a copy of the Dog Blanket calendar from last year, it was the best Christmas present I had, I used it every single day and it combined usefulness, decorativeness and entertainment in one dog-blanketty package. The person who gave it to me as a gift has my grateful thanks!

Hey Aled, got a favour to ask..

I usually download shows from iPlayer, but now because BBC have added in this 'download options' thing, they've stopped external programs from allowing people to download stuff from there. Unfortunately, there are no 'download options' for the show. Can you get it sorted so there is please? I like to pop it on my phone then listen on the way to uni and back if I'm in later on.

Andrew.

PS. I was one of the winners of the AAA HQ tour; It was fantastic. Love that Fearne still has the framed picture of Chris. And everyone is so cheery! Like, literally, everyone who works there! Even the security were cheery (dunno what Billy on security was doing in on a saturday, but he was there, and he was cheery too!) Rachel was there too, but I was too scared to say hello. Wish i'd just sang 'good morrrrning from the chris moyles show' or something now. That would've broken the ice. xD

PPS. My PS was longer than my original question.

Hey Aled, now Pure Tonic have the contract for Station Sound across BBC R1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra, will Music4 compose a package for Chris in January 2011? Will it be a fully-sung package like the current, or a 'basic' package, say of a few beds and basic themes, or will a company provide a generic package like the rest of the station?

I think you'll find a day very soon that once you hear a song on the radio you'll be able to buy it legally - if you have the money!

Oh sounds interesting but how would that work? Would that not ruin an act's 6 week promotion period and therefore not enable them to get as many sales.

Also, I know this topic gets brought up quite a lot on here and you must be fed up of it but I've just been listening to the Request Show with Matt Edmondson and he played Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus and I realised that they censored out the lyric: "he brings a gun to school". Is this not taking censorship a little bit too far. And what is the point in it? Its not gonna make a child take a gun to school. Is this censorship just going to keep escalating now or not? We used to hear things a lot worse than that on the radio.

Yeah, I heard 'drugs gimme drugs' being censored out on Na Na Na as well, although to be fair it's censored on the music video as well. Just thought it was related.

I'll look at the questions in more detail when I get a bit more time, but for now just think I should re-iterate I can't be a spokesperson for Radio 1 and every decision it makes, it's not my place - it'd be like you speaking on behalf of the company you work for. I'll give what I can a shot but the questions I can answer best are the ones that are things I have a right to comment on. Me, The Surgery or The Chris Moyles Show. :)

As far as editing words in songs is concerned the things you're picking up on are relating to a term called 'imitative behaviour'. There's a belief that we shouldn't be talking about, playing songs about, or showing things (on TV) that if repeated would be harmful or dangerous for a young person to do.

Drugs, violence and excessive drink to the point of harming will all come under that category.

Is celebrity raspberry being dropped at Christmas? And are their any new or returning features in the pipeline to replace it? I would personally like to see it dropped but maybe with a feature that still incorporates callers and the giving away of mugs. Perhaps the return of celebrity Tarzan?

Al, is Carrie coming back?
If not will she replace David Garrido?
If Carrie does return will Tina stay with Newsbeat?
If Carrie doesn't come back to The Moyles Show will she return to the BBC?

No harm in asking!

No conversations have been had. I'd imagine that will happen when we get back in the new year.

Hi Aled,

I can only imagine how many thousands if not millions of text the show gets each day.

How does it all work. Sometimes on webcam you can see Chris reading texts from a sheet and sometimes he and the team read off screens.

So really my question is, how does a text go from arriving on the system to being read out on air!

(I coundn't have put that more geekily really!!)

Have a wondeful Christmas and a Happy New Year :)

You're all amazing

They make the cartwall program (where jingles/audio comes from), and some other pieces of software, such as the program Newsbeat use
