I'm VERY good thank you. Life's blooming great.

Glad to hear it :)

He has 3 faders on his desk, he loads the song into each fader and is just very skilled and starting the next fader at the correct time and fading previous tracks out.

Watching him do that, talking on air, while internally keeping count of the beats is pretty cool!

That was the kind of thing that stood out for me during the video week, he's bloody good at working that desk. Something the sad tossers who put him down seem to always miss - whether or not his style suits you, he's extremely skilled at his job.

Not sure if you can answer this one at all or not (it may not be for you to comment on) but have Chris & Paddy O'Connell fallen out? Several members on here said that he seemed a bit cold towards Chris on The One Show which has made them (including myself) wonder if they've had a falling out.

If you can't answer this question then I complete understand, so if you can't then no worries :D

I just answered very decisively for Chris on this - then realised despite thinking I know the answer, I'm speaking for him - and I'm not here to do that, so I'll edit this post and myself and say, you need to ask Chris. As far as I know... no, they haven't.

Ah ok cool, a few of us on here wondered and fair play to you if you have changed your answer, especially if you're not sure whether or not your answer is 100% correct.

Thanks, as always for taking the time to answer these questions :)

Johnny 1989 wrote:Quick question for you Aled, will Radio 1 ever release some really classic Moyles shows in a form of a Podcast, from his afternoon show era?

No. Licensing and rules are extremely extremely strict.

Podcast must be broadcast within the last 7 days. The only possible option would be if BBC Worldwide wanted to pick them up and sell them and I'd guess the market wouldn't be big enough for old shows while we're on air doing a 3.5 hour new show every day.

Also, I'm guessing, but wouldn't there be more of an interest for all parties involved to highlight current shows rather than bigging up old ones for brand reasons? (think old team and stuff)

Oh right, fair enough, shame the rules are rather strict, I won't ask as to why for obvious reasons.

I think you are right also regarding the older shows, although us fans on here enjoy listening to the really old shows the average listener probably wouldn't care.

Oh well I've set up my own thread in the Sound Request section, since I asked that question, with shows recorded by myself & others and edited by myself & others. I think that'll probably be the closest we'll ever get to "Classic Moyles Podcasts"

Thanks Again for your answer, and I'd like to add that the Chris & the Team (along with Vernon for the last seven shows) have really been on form for the last six months, long may you guys & girls continue to be great, as ever. :)

I know this may sound stupid, but are there any plans to release the whole show, minus the music, as a download for people podcast style? I dont think that it would take much work (This may show my total lack of knowledge of how these things work, so sorry if it does and I sound like a tool) and would help many people who are working in those hours stay in the know how with the jokes and what not.

In a word, "no".

These kind of stuff gets discussed a lot a I'm sure you can imagine, but what you're asking for is something of a half way house between the iPlayer and a podcast. Now that the iPlayer has been improved and you can forward and back through the show then there's nothing stopping you skipping the songs (which, lets face it will probably happen once every half an hour! :) )

The amount of work it would take someone to edit each show wouldn't be worth the cost. In addition to this our research (constantly revisited) is that people prefer weekly podcasts and anything more than 30 - 40mins is a waste.

I do that for fun! I'd be great value for money if there was some sort of salary involved :D

Ooh! That's a question for Sara rather than me!

Thanks Aled

I just find it poor that when she has one show a week it's not live!

So does Judge Jules, Pete Tong, all the overnights........etc...

Slightly more unsocial hours than Coxy's Lie In though.

Hi Aled,

Considering that you are gay and you are aware that you have a fairly young audience - how can you remain quiet in the face of Chris Moyle's consistently sneering attitude towards gay people?

Do you think it appropriate to use the wordm 'gay' as a synomym for 'rubbish' or 'crap'

If Moyles made racial stereotypes about a black singer on his show (as opposed to a gay singer) what would the consequences have been?

Do you feel like token gay whose purpose is to allow Chris Moyles get away with casual homophobia?
#380163
When he gets time, i really don't think Aled will mind answering this one though.
#380167
Yes, but this is a new person who has joined up specially to throw the "token gay sycophant" accusation at Aled - I don't think he'll mind.
#380189
Aled, what's the deal with the video side of the show. You teased us with best bits clips and live streaming for a week at a time and then we hear nothing. The live streaming was great and loads of fun and then it got snatched away from us to make us want it more.

I haven't remained quiet, and your thoughts on Chris are purely subjective - I do not agree in the slightest that that is Chris' attitude.

Commotion wrote: Do you think it appropriate to use the wordm 'gay' as a synomym for 'rubbish' or 'crap'

I don't use it in that context and neither does Chris.

Commotion wrote:If Moyles made racial stereotypes about a black singer on his show (as opposed to a gay singer) what would the consequences have been?

That's a question for Ask Andy rather than Ask Aled - I'm not the controller. I'd imagine that the consequences would be the same as they would be if Chris was being homophobic. Luckily for all of us, Chris isn't homophobic or racist and doesn't make homophobic or racist comments so we won't find out.

Commotion wrote:Do you feel like token gay whose purpose is to allow Chris Moyles get away with casual homophobia?

No.

With all due respect, you're comments are being as ignorant as some of the people who only read about the show in newspapers rather than listen to the show. I feel like Chris' producer who's worked with him for 9 years, who's part of the on-air team that's people included in the Soap Opera of the show. There's humour around how I contuct my life and relationships (or current lack of one) just like there is for every straight member of the show. This normalises gay culture and gay relationships to the breakfast table of over 8 million homes, including 2.5 million under 20 year olds - some of whom will be gay and in need of a positive role model. This provides one of the strongest positive gay messages in the media today.

You really should listen.

What has happened to the pre-recorded bits to Cheggers Pop Quiz? They seem to have vanished without rhyme or reason.

We've tweaked it slightly. We're probably going to continue tweaking - just like we did (and still do) tweak Car Park Catchphrase. When CPC comes back it'll be slightly different again.

It was a trial. We learned LOADS.

It's coming back soon - with some changes. I think it's going to be a week again although that's not been confirmed yet.

It's all very cool!!

*cheers Aled* Well said Sir! It would've been so easy to tell him to * off but you answered with all the grace and calmness that just shoves that guys opinions back down his ignorant throat.

Aled, may I ask, has Will Young made any comment over the furore in the press? As I understood it, he and Chris were friends and therefore I assumed he would've taken it as a joke. If you don't want to comment on the issue further then that's fine and sorry for asking.
