Rainbow - Since You've Been Gone

Today's Transcript:

'Pump Up The Volume' was not only a hit for MARRS, but also the title of a film about a pirate radio station starring Christian Slater. Christian Slater shares the same surname as Kat Slater, who's married to Alfie Moon. The moon is where Neil Armstrong landed in 1969. '1969' was also a film starring Keifer Sutherland, who is also the star of '24', which started a new series last night. 'Last Night' was a hit for The Strokes. Strokes are what you'd enjoy if you were a dog or a cat. Dogs and cats go to the vet's when they're sick. Vets are also associated with Vietnam, like Tom Cruise in 'Born On The Fourth of July'. July is month number seven, and seven is the number of letters in the word 'rainbow', which links to Rainbow and 'Since You've Been Gone'.

Flaws:

No problems today.

Radiohead - High And Dry

Today's Transcript:

A rainbow is what you get when there is sunshine on a rainy day. 'Sunshine On A Rainy Day' was a big hit for Zoe. If you know somebody called Zoe, chances are she'll be the last person in your phone. "Phone home" was the catchphrase of ET, which was the film that launched the career of Drew Barrymore. The word 'drew' is the past tense of 'draw'. Draw is what you do to the curtains when you go to bed. 'Bedshaped' was a hit for Keane. Keane, first name Roy, currently plays for Celtic. Celtic are nicknamed 'The Hoops', which is a word associated with spaghetti. Spaghetti is what you'd see on the menu a lot if you were in Italy. Italy's coastline contains a lot of cliffs. If you were stranded on top of a cliff after your boat capsized you'd probably describe yourself as being 'high and dry', which links to Radiohead and 'High And Dry'.

Flaws:

Zoe would only be last in your phone if you alphabetised by first name - not if you go by surname. Dave also corrected himself to say that Celtic are not 'the Hoops', but wiki lists it as one of their nicknames (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fo ... ed_Kingdom).

Def Leppard - Animal

Today's Transcript:

Radiohead are fronted by Thom Yorke. York is where you'd have to change trains if you wanted a connecting service to Scarborough. Scarborough is associated with the fair. A fare of a different type is what you'd have to pay in a taxi. 'Taxi' was a TV series starring Danny DeVito. Danny DeVito is married to Rhea Perlman, who used to be in 'Cheers' with Ted Danson. Ted Danson shares the same surname as Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby in 'Corrie', who was knocking off Danny Baldwin, who's played bu Bradley Walsh, who did 'Wheel Of Fortune' after Nicky Campbell left. Nicky Campbell shares the same surname as Kevin Campbell, who plays for West Brom. West Brom are the team of Adrian Chiles. If you remove the last letter of 'Chiles' you get Chile, which is a country in South America. South America is where you'd find leopards. When you think of the word 'leopard' in the context of great 80s bands you think of Def Leppard, which links to Def Leppard and 'Animal'.

Flaws:

Seamless today.

Tedious Facts:

Recommended Def Leppard Single: Pour Some Sugar On Me (1987)

Madonna - Papa Don't Preach

Today's Transcript:

Def Leppard are from Sheffield, the same city that gave us the Arctic Monkeys. The Arctic Monkeys weren't at the Brits last night as they had a gig in Portsmouth. Portsmouth are managed by Harry Redknapp, who has a son called Jamie who's married to Louise from Eternal. Eternal's first hit was called 'Stay'. 'Stay' rhymes with 'stray', which is what you might have your tea on if you were watching the telly. Telly Savalas was the actor who played Kojak. Kojak was bald, so in that respect shares something in common with Duncan Goodhew. Duncan Goodhew is good at swimming, like Sharron Davies, who used to present 'The Big Breakfast' on Channel 4. 'The Big Breakfast' was filmed in a house in London, and Madonna also has a house in London, which links to Madonna and 'Papa Don't Preach'.

Flaws:

Nothing to report.

Tedious Facts:

Week Released - 28th June 1986
Number One That Week - N/A

Record Label - Sire W
Chart History - 14 weeks/No.1

Recommended Madonna Single(s): Sorry, just couldn't choose one - Into The Groove (1985), Vogue (1990), Ray Of Light (1998), Beautiful Stranger (1999).
Recommended Madonna Album: The Immaculate Collection (1990)

MC Fact Attack: I don't normally use compilations as my recommended album, but seen as though it sold over 3.6m copies in the UK.. I think I'm allowed. As for the song, this was her second number one - and Madonna remains the most successful female chart act of all time. And as Chris Moyles would say to her - F*ck off. Nomad - (I Wanna Give U) Devotion

Today's Transcript:

Madonna is married to Guy Ritchie, who directed 'Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels', starring Vinnie Jones. Vinnie Jones shares the same surname as Aled Jones, who's famous for doing 'Walking In The Air'. Air are the band who had a hit with 'Kelly Watch The Stars'. 'Stars' was a hit for Simply Red. Simply Red's Mick Hucknall has dated a string of sexy ladies over the years, including Martine McCutcheon, who used to play Tiffany in 'Eastenders'. Tiffany was the singer who had a hit with 'I Think We're Alone Now' in 1988. 1988 was also the year that the Olympics were held in South Korea. The capital of South Korea is Seoul. Sole is also a type of fish. Fish is high in protein and essential oils and is eaten all over the world, even in the Middle East and Africa. In the Middle East and Africa you get wandering tribes of travellers known as nomads, which links to Nomad and '(I Wanna Give You) Devotion'.

Flaws:

Fish doesn't contain essential oils (Dave may have been thinking of Omega-3 oils).

Tedious Facts:

Stone Roses - Love Spreads

Today's Transcript:

The word 'nomad' is only two letters away from being an anagram of 'Madonna', who is now a showbiz mate of ours after we met at the Brits. The Brits was hosted by Chris Evans, who used to present 'Don't Forget Your Toothbrush'. A toothbrush is what you'd expect to find in somebody's toilet bag if you were working on security at an airport. The airport is somewhere that you'd expect to see a lot of taxis, as is New York. New York is known as the city that never sleeps. Sleep, first name Wayne, is a famous dancer. 'Strictly Come Dancing' is hosted by Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly. Tess Daly and Vernon Kay are presenting a new show called 'Just The Two Of Us'. 'Just The Two Of Us' was covered by Will Smith. Smith is one of the most common surnames in the UK, as is Brown. Brown, first name Ian, is the former frontman of the Stone Roses, which links to Stone Roses and 'Love Spreads'.

Flaws:

Seamless link.

Alanis Morissette - Hand In My Pocket

Today's Transcript:

'Love Spreads' reached number 2 in December 1994, the same month and year that East 17 were Christmas number 1 with 'Stay Another Day'. 'Stay Another Day' shares two words in common with 'Die Another Day', which is a James Bond film starring Pierce Brosnan. I once saw Pierce Brosnan in a pub, and I'd say he's probably my best ever Guess Who. 'Guess Who's Back' was a 1997 hit for Rakim. Rakim had a hit with Eric B called 'I Know You Got Soul'. 'Soul Man' was a movie about a student who needs to become black to win a scholarship at Harvard. Harvard is kind of America's equivalent of Oxford or Cambridge, but without the history. 'History' was a hit for Mai Tai, which is a type of *. '*' was a film starring Tom Cruise, who is from Anerica, which shares a border with Canada. Canada is where Alanis Morissette is from, which links to Alanis Morissette and 'Hand In My Pocket'.

Flaws:

Seamless, despite the accidental swearing on the track itself.

Tedious Facts:

Week Released - 28th October 1995

Record Label - Maverick
Chart History - 3 weeks/No.26

Recommended Alanis Morissette Single: Ironic (1996)
Recommended Alanis Morissette Album: Jagged Little Pill (1995)

MC Fact Attack: Well done Dave - Radio 1 played the unedited chicken sh*t version on Tedious today, swearing two days in a row on the breakfast show. "Jagged Little Pill" was number one simultaneously on both sides of the Atlantic, won a Brit and a Grammy, and sold over 30m copies. Not bad for a 21 year old eh? Cliff Richard, Saviour's Day

Today's Transcript:

The plural of pocket is pockets, which are what you find on a snooker table. Snooker tables tend to be green, a bit like leaves, grapes and frogs. Frogs are slimy and tend to live in wet places like ponds. Ponds can be dangerous in the winter, when people try to ice skate on them and fall in. Fallin' is what you'd be doing if you were skydiving with a parachute. 'Parachutes' was the title of the debut album from Coldplay. Coldplay were at the Brits last week, as was Peter Kay. Peter Kay has famously done a show live from the top of the tower in Blackpool, and today we're doing our show from the top of the BT Tower. The reason for doing this is to celebrate the life of Chris Moyles, for today is saviour's day, which links us to Cliff Richard and 'Saviour's Day'.

Flaws:

Leaves, grapes and frogs can all be colours other than green, but otherwise seamless.

Tedious Facts:

Primal Scream - Loaded

Today's Transcript:

Cliff Richard prefers tennis to beer and fags. Beer and fags are also known as 'cigarettes and alcohol', which was a hit for Oasis, taken from the album 'Definitely Maybe'. 'Maybe Baby' was a film starring Joely Richardson, who used to go out with Jamie Theakston, who starred in 'Mad About Alice' with Amanda Holden, who was married to Les Dennis, who used to host 'Family Fortunes', which is now going to be hosted by Vernon Kay, and is to feature celebrity guests such as Fearne Cotton. Cotton is a good material to use when making shirts. Shirts are a vital garment for those that like to wear a tie. Tie up is what you do to a ferry when it docks in a port. There are many ports in the UK, such as Glasgow and Portsmouth. Portsmouth are managed by Harry Redknapp. Harry Redknapp shares the same first name as Harry Ramsden, who makes fish and chips. Chips of a different type are what you might win at the casino. If you had a huge win at the casino you'd be described as 'loaded', which links to Primal Scream and 'Loaded'.

Flaws:

Seamless. Dave stated that there had been some complaints on the text about his statements regarding ferries, however, I'm no ferry expert and after getting lost in the wiki article on sailing terminology, I'm happy to let him have this one.

House Of Pain - Jump Around

Today's Transcript:

Loaded is how you might describe a cannon on a pirate ship. A pirate ship is where you'd expect to see the Jolly Roger. Roger links former Bond Moore with celebrity whistler Whittaker. Roger Whittaker shares the same surname as Maria Whittaker, who used to be on page 3. Three is the square root of 9, while 9x2 is 18, which is the age at which you're legally allowed to buy alcohol in the UK. The UK is governed by Prime Minister Tony Blair, who shares the same surname as Lionel Blair, who's good at dancing. 'Dancing Queen' was a big hit for Abba, who are from Sweden, as are Ace of Base. Ace of Base topped the charts with 'All That She Wants'. If you swap the 'N' in 'wants' for an 'R' you get 'warts', which are what you'd expect to see on the face of a witch. Witches wear pointy hats, and the word 'hats' is made up of four letters, as is 'jump', which links to House of Pain and 'Jump Around'.

Flaws:

Dave stated that there were a "couple of quibbles", but refused to expound on them, so we'll say all fine.

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

Today's Transcript:

'Jump' is a song title shared by Van Halen and Kris Kross. Kris Kross were famous for wearing their clothes backwards. Backwards is the opposite of forwards, which are the two seat options on a train. Trains run on rails. 'Rails' rhymes with 'sails', which are what you'd find on a yacht. A yacht is what Simon Le Bon capsized in when he was taking part in some race. 'The Race' was a hit for Yello. 'Yellow' was a hit for Coldplay, whose Chris Martin has a daughter called Apple, which is a famous name in computers. Computers are used in pretty much every aspect of modern life. 'Modern Life Is Rubbish' was an album by Blur. 'Blur' is a word associated with sight, which is one of the senses, along with smell. When you think of the word 'smell' in the context of great records you think of Nirvana, which links to Nirvana and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.

Flaws:

As a texter pointed out, you can also sit sideways on some trains. Additionally, the 'some race' Simon Le Bon's boat capsized in was the Fastnet race in Falmouth.

Wyclef Jean - Gone Till November

Today's Transcript:

'Smells Like Teen Spirit' was taken from the classic album 'Nevermind'. "Never mind" is what you might say to someone who'd just spilled coffee on your coat that you didn't really like anyway. Weigh is what you do with a pair of scales. Scales, first name John, has played for Spurs. Spurs are what a cowboy wears on his boots, while Boots is a good place to buy toothpaste. Toothpaste is something that you'd put in your washbag if you were going away. 'Away In A Manger' is a traditional Christmas carol. Carol Vorderman is really goot at sudoku, which originated in Japan. Japan is where yu'd find Mount Fuji. The plural of 'Fuji' is 'Fugees', and the Fugees are the band that launched the career of Wyclef Jean, which links to Wyclef Jean and 'Gone Til November''.

Flaws:

Dave is wrong on the invention of Sudoku; in fact puzzles resembling modern Sudoku were first seen in French newspapers in the late 1800s, but the modern Sudoku was most likely designed anonymously by Howard Garns from Indiana, and first published in 1979 by Dell Magazines as 'Number Place'. Additionally, the plural of 'Fuji' is clearly not 'Fugees'.

New Radicals - You Get What You Give

Today's Transcript:

Another record to feature the word November in the title is 'November Rain', which was a hit for Guns N' Roses. Roses are red and violets are blue according to the rhyme, although I think violets are a bit more purple. Purple is the colour that you'd associate with Prince. Prince has done songs about Corvettes, berets and doves. Doves are the band who had a hit with 'Black and White Town'. Black and white are the colours worn by Newcastle United. Newcastle United are currently managed by Glen Roeder, who used to manage West Ham, who host Everton this Saturday. Saturday and Sunday together are classed as being the weekend. 'The Weekend' was a hit for Michael Gray, who shares the same name as the footballer who's now at Blackburn with Mark Hughes. Mark Hughes is Welsh, and will no doubt be celebrating St David's Day today. St David did lots of work spreading Christianity to the pagans of West Wales, and these pagan types must have regarded him as some sort of new radical, which links to The New Radicals and 'You Get What You Give'.

Flaws:

The Undertones - Teenage Kicks

Today's Transcript:

The fella from the New Radicals wrote 'Life Is A Rollercoaster' by Ronan Keating. Ronan Keating used to be in Boyzone, along with Keith Duffy, who's now in 'Coronation Street'. 'Coronation Street' is set in Manchester, which is where JK and Joel used to live. JK and Joel host Radio 1's Chart Show on a Sunday, following in the footsteps of such legends as Mark Goodier and Bruno Brookes. Bruno Brookes shares the same surname as Charlie Brookes, who used to play Janine in 'Eastenders'. 'Eastenders' is now 21 years old, which is the age you have to be to purchase an alcoholic beverage in America. America is governed by President George W Bush. George W Bush shares the same surname as Kate Bush, who sang 'Wuthering Heights', which is also a famous book. Other famous books include 'The Satanic Verses' and '20,000 Leagues Under The Sea'. Under the sea is where you'd find things like jellyfish and sharks. If you swap the last letter of 'sharks' for an 'E' and a 'Y' you get 'Sharkey', as in Feargal Sharkey of The Undertones, which links to The Undertones and 'Teenage Kicks'.

Flaws:

A couple of technical points; Keith Duffy is no longer appearing in 'Coronation Street', and jellyfish and sharks live in, rather than under, the sea. Also, one does have to wonder why, when choosing famous books to name, 'The Satanic Verses' was one that came to Dave's mind.

KLF - 3AM Eternal

Today's Transcript:

Undertones frontman Feargal Sharkey scored a no1 hit with 'A Good Heart' in 1985. 1985 was the year that Bob Geldof staged Live Aid, which took place simultaneously in London and Philadelphia. Philadelphia in this country is a type of soft cheese. Cheese is a dairy product, and is often found in the same supermarket section as milk. 'Milk' rhymes with 'Bilk', as in Acker Bilk, the legendary jazz clarinettist. I used to play the clarinet, until it got stolen and I gave it up. 'Give It Up' was a 1983 hit for KC & the Sunshine Band, although the KC in question wasn't the same KC who used to be on Radio 1 at weekends. The weekend officially starts tonight at 6pm, because Pete Tong says so. Pete Tong is the voice that you hear at the start of A Tribe Called Quest's 'Can I Kick It', which was released in 1991. Another great record from 1991 was by the KLF, which links to KLF and '3am Eternal'.

Flaws:

U2 - Mysterious Ways

Today's Transcript:

3am is what time James King started this morning with his Oscars show. The Oscars involves lots of people getting dressed up and having their picture taken on the red carpet. Carpet is something that Kidderminster is famous for, although these days people associate it more with our Rachel. Rachel Jones shares the same first name as Rachel Weisz, who won an Oscar last night for her role in 'The Constant Gardener'. If you remove an 'E' from 'gardener' you're left with Gardner, as in Wayne Gardner, who's a big name in the world of motorcycle racing. Racing Santander are a famous football team in Spain. Spain is a nice place to go on holiday. 'Holiday' was a hit last year for Green Day, and was taken from their album 'American Idiot'. The word 'idiot' is associated with the word 'village'. 'Village' is made up of six letters, the same amount that are in the name 'Hewson'. Hewson is the surname of the man known better as Bono, which links to U2 and 'Mysterious Ways'.

Flaws:

'Village' actually has seven letters...and thus the link falls apart.

Jay-Z - 99 Problems

Today's Transcript:

'Mysterious Ways' was taken from the 1991 album 'Achtung Baby'. 'Achtung' is German for 'warning' or 'danger', and in fact much of the album was recorded in Berlin. Berlin will host this year's World Cup Final, on the 9th of July. July is the seventh month. 'Seven and the Ragged Tiger' was an album by Duran Duran, who were formed in Birmingham, which is also the city that gave us Apache Indian. Indian food is always good after a few beers. Beer in a pub is delivered in kegs or barrels, which are kept in the cellar. 'Cellar' is an anagram of 'recall', as in 'Total Recall', which is a film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold Schwarzenegger is the Governer of California, which is on the West Coast of America. The West Coast has a big rivalry with the East Coast, which is where Jay-Z is from, which links to Jay-Z and '99 Problems'.

Flaws:

'Achtung' means 'attention', rather than 'warning' or 'danger'.

C is the third letter of the alphabet. 'Alphabet Street' was a hit for Prince. Prince Philip is married to Queen Victoria, which is also the name of a famous ship. 'Ship Of Fools' was a hit for Erasure, who included Vince Clarke, who used to be in Yazoo with Alison Moyet. Alison Moyet is currently starring in a play with Dawn French. French is a popular type of mustard, which is made from seeds. Seeds are what you might find in a birdcage, which is also where you might find a parrot. Parrots live wild in Southern states of America, such as Tennessee. Tennessee is where you'd find Graceland, the home of the late Elvis Presley, which links to Elvis Presley and 'Suspicious Minds'.

Flaws:

Prince Philip is married to Queen Elizabeth. Victoria reigned in the early 1900s.

Hit the top 15 again upon re issue in April 2001, and since then has been in the chart only once, as the B-Side to the Will Young/Gareth Gates butchering of "The Long and Winding Road" in October 2002. Coldplay - Yellow

Today's Transcript:

Elvis was married to Priscilla Presley, who starred in the 'Naked Gun' movies with Leslie Nielsen. Leslie Nielsen shares the same first name as Lesley Garrett, who sings opera. Opera is very popular in Italy, as is spaghetti. Spaghetti can be difficult to eat and normally involves a fork and a spoon. Spoon-bending is the occupation of Uri Geller, who shares the same surname as Monica Geller, the 'Friends' character played by Courteney Cox. Courteney Cox appeared years ago in a video by Bruce Springsteen, who is nicknamed 'The Boss'. If you swap the first letter of 'Boss' for a 'G' you get 'Goss', as in Matt and Luke Goss from Bros. Bros had a hit with 'Drop The Boy'. Boy George is the former frontman of Culture Club. Club sandwiches are an option you can find on any hotel room service menu anywhere in the world. Hotels are where megastars like Coldplay spend most of their time, which links to Coldplay and 'Yellow'.

Flaws:

Leslie Nielsen and Lesley Garrett don't really share the same first name. Also it may be stretching things a bit to say that club sandwiches can be found anywhere in the world.

Recommended Coldplay Album: A Rush Of Blood To The Head (2002)

MC Fact Attack: Coldplay are the only ever band to have won both a Brit and a Grammy for each of their first two albums. As regards this song, I remember the first time I ever heard it. I was listening to Moyles, he played it prior to the news - then off the back of the news he took the piss out of the singer with the news and sport monkeys, saying he sung like Alan Partridge. Mmm, A-ha indeed. (The recommended album, "A Rush Of Blood To The Head", is pictured above).

De'Lacy - Hideaway

Today's Transcript:

Yellow is one colour found in a rainbow, along with blue. Blue are the band that launched the career of Lee Ryan. Lee Ryan shares the same surname as Michelle Ryan, who used to be Zoe in 'Eastenders'. Zoe's mum is Kat Slater, played by Jessie Wallace. Wallace Arnold are a famous name in the world of coaches. Coaches of a different type are employed by football clubs to train the squad. If you remove the first letter of 'squad' you're left with 'quad', which means four, as in quad bikes which have four wheels. Ozzy Osbourne fell off a quad bike a while ago and ended up in hospital. Hospital is the setting of the BBC drama 'Holby City', which stars Tina Hobley, who lives near me. 'Me, Myself and I' was a hit for De La Soul. In alphabetical CD stacking De La Soul would be neighbours with De'Lacey, which links to De'Lacey and 'Hideaway'.

Flaws:

Seamless link.

Stereophonics - Just Looking

Today's Transcript:

A hideaway is where you might locate yourself if you were on the run from a bounty hunter. Hunter was the Gladiator who went out with Ulrika Jonsson, who had an affair with Sven Goran Eriksson. Sven Goran Eriksson is Englad's manager, although the FA are currently conducting interviews for his replacement, with a list of top secret names in the frame. A frame is what you might buy if you wanted to mount a picture. 'Picture of You' was a hit for Boyzone, who incuded Keith Duffy. Keith Duffy shares the same surname as Patrick Duffy, who played Bobby Ewing in Dallas. Dallas is in Texas, whose capital is Austin, which is currently hosting the South by Southwest festival, where music industry types go to check out the hottest new acts. If you saw one of these music industry people and asked them what they were doing they're they'd probably say "just looking", which links to Stereophonics and 'Just Looking'.

Flaws:

Problem-free.

MC Fact Attack: This single was released in 1999, in the middle of the Stereophonics "good period" shall we say. Their 14 hit singles and two chart topping albums of new material between 1997 and 2001 could not be bettered by any other group. (The recommended album, "Word Gets Around", is pictured above).

Republica - Ready To Go

Today's Transcript:

Stereophonics are fronted by Kelly Jones. Kelly Jones shares the same first name as Kelly McGillis, who starred in 'Top Gun'. 'Top Gun' came out in 1996, and featured 'Take My Breath Away' the one-hit wonder by Berlin. Berlin is the capital of Germany, which is the country that produced Steffi Graf. Steffi Graf is married to Andre Agassi, who is now bald but had loads of hair back in the day, a bit like David Coverdale of Whitesnake. Whitesnake's biggest hit was 'Is This Love' in 1987. 1987 was the year of the first Rugby World Cup, which was won by New Zealand. New Zealand is the country that gave us Zane Lowe, who's currently in Texas. Texas is the band fronted by Sharleen Spiteri, who made a major comeback in 1997, the same year that Republica released their debut single, which links to Republica and 'Ready To Go'.

Flaws:

Berlin were not technically a one-hit wonder - they had a follow-up entitled 'You Don't Know' that reached the dizzy heights of no39. In a further chart discrepancy, 'Is This Love' was not Whitesnake's biggest UK hit, as the remix of 'Here I Go Again' equalled its chart position of no9.

Tedious Facts:

Rest Assured - Treat Infamy

Today's Transcript:

The lead singer of Republica was called Saffron, which is also a type of rice. Rice, first name Anneka, used to present 'Treasure Hunt' before it was done by Annabel Croft. Annabel Croft shares the same surname as Lee Croft, who's just signed a new deal at Man City, who last night knocked Villa out of the cup. Cup is a word associated with bras, which are more expensive than you think, with one of Rachel's costing fifty-odd quid. Fifty multiplied by two is a hundred, which in terms of years is a century. The century that we're currently in is number 21. 21 is what the French also call pontoon. A pontoon is what you might dock with if you're on a ferry. Ferry, first name Bryan, used to be in Roxy Music, who were around in the 70s like the Rolling Stones. the Rolling Stones track 'Last Time' was sampled by Rest Assured, which links to Rest Assured and 'Treat Infamy'.

Flaws:

Saffron is a spice that is added to rice, not a type of rice itself.

The Police - Roxanne

Today's Transcript:

Infamy is a word that describes someone who's famous for being bad. 'Bad' was an album by Michael Jackson, who
shares the same surname as Curtis Jackson, who's better known as 50 Cent. 50 Cent wanted to come and see us when we were over in New York, which has an underground railway system, and in that respect shares something in common with Paris. Paris is the capital of France, which is where Melissa Therieu lives and works, and she is a
multi-linguist, a bit like Sepp Blatter. If you remove the 'L' from 'Blatter' you're left with 'batter', which is
what you wrap cod in before you put it in the fryer. Friar Tuck was a mate of Robin Hood, who spent a lot of time
on the run from the Sheriff of Nottingham. The Sheriff of Nottingham was like an early version of the police,
which links to The Police and 'Roxanne'.

Flaws:

Seamless today.

The Waterboys - The Whole Of The Moon

Today's Transcript:

Roxanne is the first name of Roxanne Pallett from 'Emmerdale', who goes out with Richard Fleishman, whose mum Sue Jenkins used to be Jackie Corkhill in 'Brookside'. 'Brookside' also used to star Jennifer Ellison, who shares the same surname as Jennifer Lopez, who is from the block. 'Block Rockin' Beats' was a hit for the Chemical Brothers, who consist of Tom and Ed. Edd The Duck was mates with Andi Peters, who used to live in the broom cupboard. A cupboard can be used for storing all sorts. Allsorts are what you might associate with Bertie Bassett, who shares the same surname as Mike Bassett, who was the fictional England manager played by Ricky Tomlinson, who was in 'Raining Stones' alongside Bruce Jones, who plays Les Battersby in 'Corrie'. Les battersby drinks in the Rovers' Return, which has a green sign. Green is the colour of Ireland, which links to The Waterboys and 'The Whole Of The Moon'.

Flaws:

The Waterboys are in fact Scottish. But as their long list of past members does include Irish musicians, including long-standing member Steve Wickham, it was decided to allow Dave this one and swiftly move on.

Tedious Facts:

Week Released - 2nd November 1985/6th April 1991

MC Fact Attack:A St. Paddy's Day treat for everybody. But what a mistaker to maker from Dave in the link. I do realise that kind of wasn't a fact by the way, but I think I got away with it. (The recommended album, "Room To Roam", is pictured above).
