lots of people posting tonight. must be picking up a bit..

big tip for driving: above maintain the mentality of being utterly chilled. if you get up tight or worried it get's worse exponentially. just chhhhhilllll.

Don't be too chilled and/or over confident!

You'll be fine - I was cacking myself a couple of years ago when I started my lessons.

my avatars way too big.

a group of my mates and i fooled one of our friends into believing it was essential to wear driving gloves as they 'make you grip the wheel better; we all used em on our first lessons'

but yea. just drive. and concentrate! look out for that * great lorry. apologies...

When you pass don't go out and spend thousands getting your car all "souped up" like my mate will did...

Image

...he was going "a little fast" and fell out with a lorry 8O Don't do this and you'll be fine :D

Matt

(he was ok BTW...the fact that he'd had the suspension lowered actually saved him from injury :!: )

You're right Bob - he's a real boy racer.

He went out and bought an Escort the next week, and now it's got more shite stuck on it than you could shake a stick at. You can hear it coming a mile away with the sound system and exhaust.

Matt

...I think the car was crushed once he'd stripped it down.

if i wanted a car id get the quietest. these fellas, its like they have a microphone hooked up to their speakers from inside the exhaust. plus theres a fella near me who must have his bass WAY TOO HIGH. you cant hear a tune just a dull repetitive thud. funnily one day i heard it and it was sum 41 and that isnt even dance and you could hardly hear the tune. he mostly plays that "happy hardcore" or if your me "music that you need to be heavily liquored or high to actually listen to".

Funnily enough i passed my test yesterday (i've had a car for 2 years with a fat system may i add) so if your in the MK area and you see a car going at 120 MPH......................................................that won't be me, i'll be in the bus stop with my head under the bonnet.

I just got back... :D

I'm a shocking driver. But my instructor only grabbed the wheel off me once or twice, and I only stalled it once, mounting the kerb twice.... :D :P

My feet got confused :( I could not be a driving instructor. Too nervewracking.

:D

in each state you have to be 16 to get your liscence, 15 for the permit. however, there are different restrictions for each state- the laws in california are quite stringent for drivers under 18 (which is why i've still not gotten my liscence, and i'm almost 20!)

thanks, just wondered.

It appears that CA is quiet a crazy state.. any other laws that I should know about before I come over there with my Dad in a few weeks. I hear that the Smokin and Drinking are quiet harsh laws.

CA's not that crazy. it's more conscious when it comes to health, the environment, and safety compared to some. the smoking thing is sorta extreme i guess, but as a non smoker, i don't care. the driving laws are sort of annoying if you live n the suburbs, but it's fine in the bay area (we've decent public transport). we do have one of the lowest blood alcohol levels for a dui in the union, which again is good.

why do people think CA is some crazy communist state? it's really conservative.

okay- i didn't mean it like that.

well at least i'm happy to know that i'm gonna be in good hands where i'll get good health treatment, that i'm not gonna be harmed by the enviroment and generally be safe walking around.

so- crime rate.. only joking
