The thing is, they don't appear to have made any changes to their approach in the face of public criticism. So Des is rubbish now, we all know this, but when ITV sport head Brian Barwick said straight-faced after speculation that they were trying to grab Alan Hansen that "we don't need anybody else - we've got Ally McCoist and Terry Venables, and they are the best in the business" (yeah, because when BBC Sport employed them they got so much MOTD action, didn't they?) you really feared for them.
