right here goes, i throw out the hand of forgiveness (i know sounds crap) to stickyspanner. but m+l fan tut tut tut, you dont know much about me do you. im supposedly an ira sympathiser am i, that made me laugh. im actually a protestant, so eat your words. i used to go to the church of ireland but i dont consider myself to be any religion because all religions are as bad as each other and bring conflicts. prime example, northern ireland. i sympathise with good ordinary catholic ppl as i do with good ordinary protestant ppl. my sister is a protestant, she goes out with a catholic, hes a good chap, we get on well. there is no pent up anger or hatred with normal ppl in northern ireland. its just the 15% of assholes ruining it for the rest of us (on both sides). its just the same as oldham or anywhere else in england. its just the history is much more interesting over here. i did leave at that time for 3 months but i came back after a sabatacle where i got other things to do. i checked back from time to time to see things but didnt comment. i talk a lot of crap, granted, but im also a sensible person. you need to be here.

Actually it may surprise you that the youth of NI are the most bigoted of all the demographic groups.
So get your facts right mate.

Perhaps it's the youth which know no other way. A few dissenting voices could go along way. But they have got to have strength - because the air of intimidation is rife.

Moving on........... because this is not Newsnight

Isn't cheese great.

Apparently if you're a Catholic teenager and u go shopping in Sainsbury's or somewhere in a Protestant area they throw away the carrier bags so they don't have to go through the 'shame' of being seen as shopping in the Protestant area...and vice versa.

Trying to make this topic more relevent, do think Chris gets any crap for going out with Ana? He's a Catholic in the public eye and she's a Protestant and these people get worked up over such silly things. Does anybody give your sister and her boyfriend abuse Uglybob?

That's the problem I've got with NI is that all the people from Ulster say ' You have to live over here to understand the history etc.' but in England u have Catholic and Protestant people and they don't go around knee-capping and bombing and shooting each other. I'm sick and fecking tired of these people in Northern Ireland whingeing and whining...and for people like Uglybob who seems 'alright' I feel sorry for the reputation that certain people there give you.
no its not really the kids fault in those areas. its the parents fault on the whole. they are spoon fed at a young age bigotry. i was one of the lucky ones. the bigoted parents brainwash the children and then let them roam the streets at night. they are the ones who are telling them to throw stones and chuck things.

You are absolutely spot on friend.
The only way peace is going to come to northern ireland is if kids are taught in MIXED
schools and close down all this petty, in fighting and ridiculous truimphant marches.

I mean do the English walk accross the tamar bridge to give truipmh against the Cornish for the Angof uprising in 1498

Or the French come over to hastings

It's time the people of northern ireland grew up and faced reality. Fast

Sorry to make this thread looking like the Mike dickin e-mail page- but it has to be said
