I'll put this as an introduction somewhere on the main site when I get a few minutes - this is a bit of background to the clips. For what it's worth, we only seem to be missing clips from Signal Radio in Stoke-on-Trent and Pulse FM in Yorkshire - if anyone has got any clips of his time there then you know where to send them ..

--

The 'Evening Bit' Chiltern shows were actually networked from Milton Keynes Horizon studios pre GWR ownership to Horizon Radio,Chiltern Radio 97.6/96.9, Northants Radio, Severn Sound and possibly Galaxy Radio (Bristol) as well. Chris replaced a girl called Emma Scott and was on from 7-10pm. When GWR bought the whole Chiltern group they butchered the stations big time, got rid of most of the shows apart from his and moved him to the 10pm-2am slot ('late bit') and kept it networked ,coming from the Dunstable Chiltern studios but only to the Chiltern stations, Horizon and Northants. At the time GWR were very restricting. Under GWR, DJ's were not allowed to have features, personality, comedy, talk over songs or have their own jingles of any kind.

Chris broke most of those rules! They turned a blind eye as he had the biggest audience on the station, even bigger than breakfast! About a year later they replaced him with that network-wide drivel, Late Night Love with Graham Torrington which you may have heard if you are unlucky enough to have a GWR station where you live. You can hear Chris taking the piss out of him in those clips. But hey, Chris was off to Capital.

He was on at various times as early as 7pm. Just before he went to Radio 1 they moved him into something like a 11pm -3am or perhaps even later. Don't think Capital management were happy at all about Radio1 poaching him.
