I would try, but you actually need something worthwhile and amusing to send - and I do neither.

morrisey should be good on tomorrow's show. no the morrisey, neil morrisey (sp?), although morrisey would also be quite good. today's was sweaty knackers, although moyles consistantly reminding us of that didn't help :) spoe he was just covering himself.

432d13

Chiltern FM - i haven't heard the sound clips yet - so excuse me for pointing out the obvious for those of you that have... but this is his first show at around 16 years old right? when he was covering for someone in an 'emergency'... correct? (just curious)

I'll put this as an introduction somewhere on the main site when I get a few minutes - this is a bit of background to the clips. For what it's worth, we only seem to be missing clips from Signal Radio in Stoke-on-Trent and Pulse FM in Yorkshire - if anyone has got any clips of his time there then you know where to send them ..

--

The 'Evening Bit' Chiltern shows were actually networked from Milton Keynes Horizon studios pre GWR ownership to Horizon Radio,Chiltern Radio 97.6/96.9, Northants Radio, Severn Sound and possibly Galaxy Radio (Bristol) as well. Chris replaced a girl called Emma Scott and was on from 7-10pm. When GWR bought the whole Chiltern group they butchered the stations big time, got rid of most of the shows apart from his and moved him to the 10pm-2am slot ('late bit') and kept it networked ,coming from the Dunstable Chiltern studios but only to the Chiltern stations, Horizon and Northants. At the time GWR were very restricting. Under GWR, DJ's were not allowed to have features, personality, comedy, talk over songs or have their own jingles of any kind.

Chris broke most of those rules! They turned a blind eye as he had the biggest audience on the station, even bigger than breakfast! About a year later they replaced him with that network-wide drivel, Late Night Love with Graham Torrington which you may have heard if you are unlucky enough to have a GWR station where you live. You can hear Chris taking the piss out of him in those clips. But hey, Chris was off to Capital.

He was on at various times as early as 7pm. Just before he went to Radio 1 they moved him into something like a 11pm -3am or perhaps even later. Don't think Capital management were happy at all about Radio1 poaching him.
Oh wow, I now understand all about the GWR network. We have SGR Colchester and SGR FM (Ipswich) down here, and I noticed in the evenings (Hot 30, Late Night Love) they were the same on both stations, and the time where I travelled the country and listened to local radio it was the same!

So they like ran it all, but individual stations branded it as their own? Bit like today's web hosting resellers :)

Except you hardly make any money out of reselling web space and im sure GWR have made loads out of their pants shows!

Another reason not to like Graham Torrington! I am 'lucky' enough to have a GWR station (Trent FM) and like Martin, it was only when travelling around the country that I noticed alot of radio stations featured him, and 'Saturday Night Live' with Mel and Rob.

You hear that title and you think of Beegee's and Village People!

Oh god, I had this long email chat with Rob cos I was on about the Eminem vs Britney song (when Oops was in the charts) and he was talking to me just generally, so he played the song, and I thought great, he'll mention me! I sent it to him!)

"And that was a special Eminem vs Britney Spears mix I found on the internet"

THE CHEEK!
A WARNING!

The Hoare and the Trash a going to a networking evening soon, where we shall make our first claim to jump on board the good ship GWR, and rid the airwaves of Graham "poor mans whale" Torrington, and Mel and ROb, dull and duller.

You need oxygen on standby to do a chart show! Poor old Mark Goodier, his blood pressure is in overdrive come 6:45 on a sunday.....

I don't think he has put the clip on yet, but I hope he does!

Jonny- you should be thanked by the whole nation if you manage to rid of us Graham Torrington. It would be very funny to hear you and the Trash doing Late Night Love.

Lets make it clear that myself and jonny don't do a show together as i like to include some elements of comedy into the format.
